Can't say I remember any humility or self-deprecating humor from Ali in front the cameras. It wasn't his public persona nor is it of any professional pugilist.

This is a mixture of interviews....He enjoyed making up poems about himself. Then his opponents. Do you think he believed all the things he said he was capable of?

He was taking the piss out of himself because the media expected him too. But in the end he was an entertainer as well as a great sportsman.

He was a pretty good judge of humour, he used himself as his sounding board. You don't get many sportspeople these days havin a bit of fun. Now, they throw their rackets crack a hissy fit.

There is some sort of neo-modesty i guess which prevents many of us to see into the light side of a problem. But i like that fact that someone brought this up. Usually happy people, or even better, smiling people are oserved as somewhat weak or not so trustworthy.... Which is not what i think.

After all the blow hard, arrogant nonsense Ali said about himself...I agree, he was full of it... wrestling alligators and the like, at the end of the day, he could back 'himself" up in the ring. No-one was in there with him, no-one else to blame.

Don on the other hand......weeeell, he's running out of people to blame, he has a big white house full. But he still believes he's the greatest.

You should hear some of the shit football players say, and do, to opponents on the field.... It's very much a head game as well as a physical one. If you were not able to laugh it off, kept your head down, or use it, you lost it.
