Do you think Shatner should be in the next Star Trek?

But, you know like all Star Trek films, they'll figure a way around Kirk rising from the dead. I mean, in wrath of Khan, it was foreshadowing of Spock coming back at the last scene of seeing his empty pod on Genesis. They'll find a way to revive him after Generations. They can't help themselves. Now of course, McCoy and Scottie, well, last I heard or McCoy, he was going 200 yrs old in TNG pilot. And Scottie was found later going on 150 after being being locked in a transporter faze. But their real life characters are really dead and last I heard of Jimmy Doohan, his ashes were shot into space. Forest Dekelly, well his ashes are now fish food.

Many things to be said here yet not so much time. Most likely at some time a movie will bring Shatner back to the screen, the fans would not be happy if he did not get to have a final appearance. You also quite correctly indicated that Spock was brought back from death so why not Kirk? Me, I couldn't care either way or even if they made another filming of this series.

Unfortunate news is that James Doohan did not make it into space. Ultimately the second attempt to launch his ashes failed. I verified this before writing it through a news search on Google

The new film, with existing cast members from the Original Series could be called

STAR TREK: THE GERIATRIC GENERATION.

Them guys is old, and it is time to pass the torch. Placing them in the films to come would be a fine idea, if they are given the role of "Village Elder".

I don't see why Shatner should expect Kirk (the character) to be in this movie. Spock (Nimoy) is a Vulcan and in the show, they have much longer lifespans than humans. Given that Spock is now a craggy old man, I think it is reasonable to expect the character of Kirk to have long since passed on, even taking into account Hollywood's propensity to bring people back to life in the name of box office!

The man needs to stop whining. His time in the Star Trek franchises is now past.

Since this new movie evolves around the crews early years he hardly good play the role, I mean make up is good and all but not that good!!!

Prequels suck big time. Why couldn't they assemble a movie around the crew of Enterprise.

The trailer includes Nimoy in the cast but not Shatner, it does however include Winona Ryder (Spocks mother) and Zachary Quinto, who I guess would be a young Spock, good choice.

Shatner probably still sleeps in Star Trek PJ's.

- much as I like Bill in Boston Legal I find him one of the largest untapped sources of natural gas on the planet.

They can't make a girdle large enough for him to play Kirk another time.

Winona Ryder as Amanda Grayson?? Whoa. Filling Jane Wyatt's shoes won't be easy. Wyatt had an aloof character, logical yet still very loving. She made you believe a human could be in love with a Vulcan. Mark Lenard as Sarek is even more difficult. I count his performances in Star Trek as among the most nuanced and believable of any character ever to have been portrayed in any of the series. Lenard's Sarek was immediately believable; you sensed his history, his buried emotion, intensity, and brilliance. Any time he was in an episode, I loved it!

Kirk sure got a lot of tail. Being a starship commander had it's perks.

That in itself is a problem. Those space bimbos he had are so 1960's. STNG set the bar much higher and we can't ever go back. Kirk was a ham and Shatner played it well. He seems to play hams very well. But it is time to move on.

You could have Shatner reprise the role of Capt.Pike, as a wheelchair bound dribbling idiot! Hopefully in the 25 and 1/2 century he'll be able to communicate a little better than with 1 light for yes and 2 for no, as in the original. Fer Feck sake's: the technology has to be than that! Or maybe an ORION green sexy wench could demonstrate a future Vacuum pump thingy on his dried up and shriveled Mummified{oh you know!}unit. That i'll get his lights Blinkin'!

I actually think Shatner, in most parts, is a so so actor...however...as Cap. J T Kirk he is one of the best actors I have ever seen. He plays it with such conviction. When I was growing up I would watch Star Trek in reruns every night at 5 pm. This character was my hero. He was masculine, good, a leader, and with so much honor. I had such a man crush. When they did his character in (later in the movie) I couldn't believe it. In a world so crappy...did they have to take my one childhood hero?! I was so bummed. If someone how they brought him back..and Shatner wanted to do it...I would see it. No questions. Cheers
