I didn’t say size determines preference.
I also qualified it as a simple answer to a multifaceted question.
In my experience, bottoms have smaller dicks. That is the long and short of it. Pun intended.

It seems that guys with smaller dicks are more often bottoms, and tops are equipped with bigger dicks.

I wish this were true. I am always so sad to see a pic of a big, thick and veiny cock that looks like it should be in porn movies then read on and find the guy is a bottom. And it is quite common.

I think this is something congress could finally get together on. Make a law so if you have something north of 6 1/2 inches being a bottom is illegal.

I think it depends on the way you measure mostly. If I measure from the side I can be almost 9 inches. If I measure from the top it's a good 7.5. That jump between size is like the difference between above average an "hung like a horse."
I try to go for the average experience and say 8. However I've been with over 40 guys and all of them have been smaller except one guy who was the same size as me. So, I don't know about all gay men being huge...

What's a rough breakdown of the sizes of those 40 guys or so? How many less than 5 or 5.5? How many roughly between 6-7? How many over 7? Just roughly without thinking too much about it?

All of them except for maybe 2 or 3 guys were under 6.
But it may also be my luck of the draw because most of them prefer to bottom.
