Do you think Tim Tebow would be a top or bottom if he were gay?

He's in bed politically with a lot of organizations that are openly homophobic, and use Christianity to justify hate.

Just one of them is Focus on the Family, for whom he did a pro life commercial for last year, I think it was, around the time of the SuperBowl.
.

I have never heard of TT talking politics. He is strongly and openly Christian, of course, but I have never heard him do anything more than praise and thank God. If he has, I am not aware of it.

I am both gay and a practicing Christian. I receive much more grief form gay friends for being a Christian than I do from Christian friends and family for being gay. Are there harshly anti-gay Christians? Sure. But many Christians are not.

The Focus on the Family ad he did is not a policy ad. It is just his Mom saying that she's glad she chose life for him, despite a lot of medical adversity. As a child of an unwed teenage mother myself, life can be a beautiful option. The ad doesn't call for outlawing abortion, it doesn't heap scorn on anyone. FOTF is anti-gay, and I am not a fan of the group, but I don't think there is anything wrong with the Tebow ad, which, as you'll note, is basically his Mom's commercial.

Gay people who paint with an overly broad brush, and deem large groups of people as "haters" only hurts the gay rights movement, and for 2 reasons. First, "crying wolf" leads people to not take us seriously. I save the label "hate" for those that would beat up, kill, threaten, etc. Some people are just normal, nice people who have different opinions. Attacking them and their belief in God leads to my next point: Forcing people to choose between God and gay rights- if they are religious- is a loser. God will win every time. Personally, I would never tell someone their religion was wrong and hateful. Instead, I argue purely secular questions. I argue that gay marriage should be legal, not that people themselves have to beleive in it.

Lastly, if TT were gay, I would gladly marry him. And our wedding night would be spectacular.

It's also been said that he has a clause in his contract forbidding him to speak out about political issues. Don't know how true that is, but definitely worth more research.

The whole Focus on the Family issue does raise some hackles with me, simply because, if you appear in a commercial for an organization, you implicitly endorse ALL of their stances, not just select ones. It doesn't matter that it wasn't a policy commercial. That's why I termed it a Pro Life commercial, not an Anti Abortion ad.

I definitely would like him to clarify that, but because of the nature of the NFL, and the potential endorsement dollars, he likely won't.

I have nothing against Tebow personally, or really politically, but I don't have anything for him, either.

100% agreed! Well said, mikeyinbrooklyn. It's been my experience most gays are more hateful toward the people they perceive to be hateful to them than those people actually are, i.e. Christians, Republicans/Conservatives. They're also more hateful to gays like you and me who dare to engage in independent thought and who don't fit the "Gay" mold. This isn't to say there aren't bigots out there... there absolutely are. They're just fewer and farther apart than the Militant Activist Gays would have us believe.

"If"??!

Tebow worked for Focus on the Family, a hate organization.

And boo-hoo-hoo for the poor Republicans/Conservatives and Bible thumping nuts who feel discriminated again. Wise up and get into the 21st century. I'm tired of your bitching.

mikeyinbrooklyn has excuses up the wazoo. And Jay1074, religion nulls and voids independent thought, and thank you for using the "Militant Gay Activists" far Right homophobic "gay conspiracy/agenda" garbage to describe gay people who stand up for themselves, and aren't still begging for mommy and daddy's acceptance. Have you gotten to the funny part in "The Pink Swastika" yet? I'm sure you hate the "feminazis" too.

Seriously. He has links to organizations that preach hate. His father's ministry, which he supports fully, is committed to bringing the "word of god" to people who have never "heard the gospel preached" to places like the Phillipines, which IIRC, is over 90% Catholic, a Christian religion.

No, Tebow has not said one thing or another about his personal views on homosexuality, gay rights, or gay anything, but judging by the company he keeps, it's not encouraging.

I honestly have no feeling about Tebow one way or the other. I'm also not one to label anyone who finds him hot an "apologist" for him. However, I think he's just another meathead "straight" jock who uses religiosity to justify hate. Sadly, there are many out there like him. Google Champions for Christ, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Also, there is a difference between Christian, and Jesus Freak/Evangelical. IMO, Tebow is the latter.

Believe me, I have no use for Christians who hide behind their faith and use it as an excuse for justifying their hate and bigotry. People like the Westboro Baptist Church can go fuck themselves. They're not really Christian and I'd like to believe Jesus would not claim them at the end of their lives. I agree with your last line whole-heartedly. There is a difference.

Timmy Tebow does have feminine mannerisms. That is not to imply that he is gay or bisexual.

exactly. so he doesn't try to be overly macho ... by no means makes him gay.

and as for his associations with "hate" organizations ... he has never publicly made any statements towards homosexuality or his views on it so be careful about jumping to conclusions

Westboro Baptist Church is made up of one crazy family, and it is condemned by virtually all other Christian groups.

Atheists are so tolerant! Just kidding. I won't paint all atheists with the same intolerant label that some deserve. What's more annoying than someone you don't know caring/opining on your sexual orientation? People you don't know panning your religious thoughts. I support the right of consenting adults to sleep with & marry whom they please. But I also support freedom of thought, and that includes the right to believe in God (or not believe), and practice your religion as you please. Fucking who you please is only a small part of our freedom.
