Can I ask a question? Why the FUCK does it matter if younger people like to shower or not? Mind your own business. The only reason you're asking is because you WANT to see them naked. Just because someone doesn't get naked in the shower with a bunch of other guys does NOT by any means mean they're self conscious.

I workout at the college I work at. The gym can be packed to the brim with sweat-drenched young men, and when I do to hit the showers I'm the only one showering. It's fucking ridiculous. When you DO see them showering, it's not unusual to see them showering in their trunks. The only guys I see showering are in their 30s and 40s. It's definitely a 20-something thing and its fucking ridiculous. "What a bunch of little pussies," is what I typically think.

I'm not necessarily hoping they're all in the shower so I can get an eyeful. I'm not saying I would take a very quick glance around just out of curiosity but I'm a busy guy and when I'm in the shower after a workout I'm usually focused on what comes next on my schedule. I just think it's a commentary on how sheltered and over-protected that generation was when they were growing up.

It's the same thing when you take a piss. I'm not into looking at the urinals, but I just happen to think it looks fucking ridiculous to be facing the corner while you're peeing or standing so close to the urinal that your pants are touching all over the side of the urinal. They're more afraid of the chance that someone MIGHT see their dick for a split second then they are of the disgusting assortment of germs crawling all over the friggin' urinal?

You're bitching because you cant see hot young men in the shower & then you bitch because they're close to the urinal? You just want to see a cock & that's exactly why people don't shower in gym nor stand far away so you can gaze at their cock. You have no excuse to say that you don't want to see their cock if you're on a forum bitching about it.

Whats with the un-needed hostility? If you're that upset about it, I'm sure that you can still voice your opinion in a less spiteful manner. And yes, I'm 19 and do use public showers at the gym or after going swimming, and no I don't care if someone stares at me or glances at me... Anywho, dude you need to calm down before some mods seriously bring down the banhammer

I have used open showers in gyms and pools around the world whenever I have been travelling. I much prefer to leave my workout sweat where I worked out rather than on my fresh clothes. Yes I have the confidence in my body to not be ashamed of it, and I have the mental capacity to not worry about the fantasies people may or may not have about me. I am strong enough to be able to say "no" if anyone tries anything on that I don't want. It's not always been that way and prior to working my body up I used to look pretty geeky. Then I would worry about showering because of body facism and people expecting me to look a certain way - perpetuated by the media. I can appreciate that some younger guys worry about showers, but I think its more about an attitude that somehow things always have to be about look or attraction or sex, rather than just getting the job done and getting clean! Come on guys just get in there and soap up and if anyone looks then just think - hey I must look really good.

Newsflash, pal. I certainly don't have to resort to the gym to see hot naked guys and dick. And I REALLY don't have to resort to catching furtive glances of guys' dicks when they're pissing at a urinal. I get enough dick within the confines of my own king-sized bed, thank you very much.

I actually think its sort of rude and a violation of personal space to leer at guys in the shower (or at a urinal). If I were in a gay bath house or something, that would be one thing but in a gym locker room I'm all about respecting boundaries of decency. I may catch a glimpse of a hot guy with a huge dick by the very fact that we're in the same room showering bare-assed naked, but I'm not out to scope out the shower room.

And it doesn't matter to me. Trust me, it's way down on the list of things to worry about (actually, it's not on the list at all), but since this is a DISCUSSION board and the topic was being DISCUSSED, I thought I'd throw it my two cents. And my two cents is that I think it looks sad, neurotic and ridiculous to be so shy about one's body.

How about a big communal towel dance? :biggrin1:

Then we can all throw our towels in their horror-struck faces, put on "I'm Coming Out", and shimmy into the shower area where we'll soap each other up and talk with lisps about how great we all look before blowing each other and emptying our loads onto the tile floor. I call dibs on Andy090 :biggrin1:

Also, I just wrote about this in another thread. Here's the link, and if you have trouble finding the post, just look for the longest one you've ever seen. Peace!

To be blunt, I am getting tired of this tired argument myself:

Choosing to shower naked vs. in a lilac burkha is not a matter of mere sartorial preference.

Forget gender. Forget the locker room environment.

Visualize a "clothing optional" co-ed beach.

Neither being naked nor being clothed is technically illegal there either, right?

Yet it is widely understood that people get naked there. Nudity is a vulnerable and non-default state in our society, not a fashion statement. However, average people feel comfortable nude there because everyone else is naked.

It is people who frequent the nude beaches and keep their clothes on who are the oglers and make every one else feel uncomfortable.

I laugh when I see the towel dancers, for christ sakes dude grow up you have a penis, I have a penis, so what. Nature takes control at times. Most all guys understand that. Just remember some day you are going to be thought of as the out of shape "nasty old fuck" chances are sooner than not if you don't have those few seconds of visual motivation to try to stay in moderately good shape. THere are alot of young ones out there that are self induced obese gamer bods. Been naked around other guys in lockerrooms and the like doesn't mean the others are "trolling for that body, heck some of them may be wanting to offer you advise on living and appearing in a I give a damn about my image/appearance around others. Nice to see the other day a center that removed the shower stalls when they remodeled, to keep the cost down, big group shower room now. I grew up in a area that was very open, local pool the changing room was open roof with an area for chaise lounges and benchs and tables to sit and lay on to soak in the sun naked. Was not uncommon to see people sitting at the tables naked eating/drinking a snack or thier lunch reading books and naked. We didn't have a beach or a "nude beach" type of environment anywhere close, so there was a small co-ed nude area on the roof of the adminstraive/water heater building of the pool complex. Since the new offender laws in effect, the known kid and adult perverts not allowed to be within like a quarter of a mile, of the whole pool/library/park/daycare/school complex. No junk food allowed to be sold at concession stand or vending machines. It is finally starting to show that the people are trimming down/shaping up young and old alike.

I think you're comparing apples and oranges. People go to a nude beach for a variety of reason - to get some sun, to meet others, to enjoy the naturist lifestyle, what have you. People generally go to a shower room to get clean. Period.

Has anyone else noticed in this thread that it's predominantly the gay/bi guys who are so adamantly against others showering partly clothed? Do you guys think you're being cheated somehow? LOL. Now don't anyone go off on a rant and call this gay bashing or homophobic, just read the posts....

While that may be the case for a percentage of guys, it's certainly not the case for me and I'm sure others. I don't necessarily have strong feelings about this, just an opinion.

For me, as I've mentioned, it's about feeling a certain acceptance, a comradery of sorts.

Now, I'm not going to deny that the view isn't a bonus. However, if it was purely, or even a majority of the reason for me, I'd be bonin up and whackin it. I can honestly say that I have never gotten a hard on in the gym shower, no matter how many nice looking men are in at the same time.

Hope I qualify as young :D
Been to the gym since I was 20 and always used the public showers. I've been playing soccer since I was 10 or sth like that, so it was quite normal for me anyway.

:arms: :yup:

I too hate it when guys just look at this issue as a matter of other guys being pervy. There is so much more to this issue than that.

 It could go something like this (with extra large towels of course as we wouldn't want other guys to know that we have a penis, testicles or a butt because they have never seen those parts before despite having them attached to their own body)::dance::dance::dance::dance:
However, in the absence of towels, we may have to resort to this::bad::bad::bad::bad:
