Wow! I figured it would be simply to wear supportive underwear. Sewing your balls together is a big deal!

It seems counter intuitive but tight and supportive clothing can actually make torsion more likely in some cases. When I had my first one I was in good shape and liked to wear tight pants to show off my bulge (I was young and immature). I also wore boxer briefs at that time, as oppose to boxers that I wear now. The right and restrictive clothes prevented the free movement of my testicles, so when I moved a certain way my testicle couldn't do anything but get twisted.

I imagine that if I had been having the problem while doing something more active, and had not been wearing tighter clothes, then supportive clothes might have made more sense.

I'm not sure that this was the best urologist. Aside from suturing my testicles together he suggested that there was no solution for a varecocele. When I asked him about a procedure that I had looked up online, embolization, he hadn't heard of it and asked me to send him the info I had found. So I obviously wasn't going to let him to that procedure either.

About ten years ago I developed severe pain in my nuts. I have normal size balls but a long hanging scrotum. The pain was bad enough for me to go the ER. When the doc came in he had me stand and I pulled up my gown. He asked if my scrotum normally hung low and I said yes, he then gently lifted my nuts up his hand and gently felt them. The pain was severe. He then ordered an ultra sound. He was concerned it was testicular torsion which he said was considered a medical emergency. When I got to ultra sound the male tech raised up my gown. Now I consider myself average in the cock department, I have no problem saying I'm only 5 inches fully hard. Flaccid, its barely 2 inches (long sagging scrotum makes it look weird). Anyway, to get the penis off of the scrotum, the tech wrapped a gauze pad around my small shaft and then place a piece of white tape around the pad and lifted my dick up and taped it to my abdomen. He explained that it needed to be fully out of the way of the scan. After he was done he removed the tape and gauze and I was rolled back to the ER. When the ER doc got the results he came in and explained that it wasn't a torsion but a case of epididymitis (Epididymitis is inflammation (swelling and irritation) of the epididymis, a tube at the back of the testicle that carries sperm). Treated with pain meds and antibiotics. He gave me the speech about wearing supportive "under garments". I told him a wear jocks rather then underwear, He said it was probably the best choice.

Just the opposite happened to me recently when I woke up with my balls swollen and sore. I got to see my urologist and explained to him my problem. He had me drop my pants and checks my balls saying they seemed fine. I had to explain to hiM that my balls are really little and this is swollen. Not funny but turned out nothing serious.

I have developed a cist on my right testicle. It is harmless and does not need to be removed. It makes my right testicle look bigger. My doctor noticed it and one time took my scrotum in his hand and squeezed my testicles and showed me the size difference drom the right one from the left one.
He sent me to have an MRI performed on my scrotum. So nothing needs to be done about this condition. I just have a larger looking right nut than the left nut.
Now if medical science could make my penis longer and thicker, I would be a happy camper.

At my last physical, my doctor grabbed my balls and asked me to cough.
I dislocated two of his fingers. :p
I've never heard of balls being grabbed. My experience has been poking his finger in the scrotum next to my body and telling me to cough. Not painful at all.

I also have a benign cyst on the testicle. It bothers me to the point that my left testicle aches if it isn't supported. The only thing is surgery, but that doesn't guarantee it won't re-grow. it's very small, but both my PCP and my urologist have me drop my pants so they can thoroughly explore( both with me standing and lying down naked from the waist down) the cyst and if it has grown. The urologist really squeezes, but the PCP uses a gentle touch. I've had three ultrasounds, which were interesting ( video of procedure below). Men: check your balls and make sure your physician checks them also, especially if you are young and feel lumps or a hardness. It could save your life.

It could have been an Ultra Sound that I had. It was where they take this instrument in hand and put some lubricant on my scrotum and move this instrument all over my scrotum. The tech is looking at a screen while doing this. He also can print out photos of the image.

That's an ultrasound.

I suddenly had a lot of fluid retention and swelling in my left groin, which also caused my penis to be erect size, even thought it was soft. My doctor was concerned there was a big blood clot, checked me into the hospital, and arranged for a couple of specialists to see me. (It turned out in the end that a lymph node in my left groin area got temporarily clogged up, and it wasn't that that serious. )

First I was seen by a hematologist, who sent me down for an ultrasound of the penis. The imaging tech, who I'm sure was gay, seemed to enjoy this immensely. He whispered in my ear whatever it is, it's not a blood clot. But that was not what the doctor wanted to hear, and he started asking me questions about my cock:

"Sir, is your penis normally that large?" "Yes, when it's erect."

"But sir, is your penis normally that thick?" "Yes, always."

"But sir, us your penis normally that heavy?" "Yes, when erect."

"But sir, is your penis usually..." "YES!!! I've got a BIG DICK!"

The whole time, the poor imaging tech is staining behind the doctor, with pain on his face as he is desperately trying to keep from cracking up. The doctor still wasn't satisfied, and ordered an MRI of my oenis (I so wish I had a copy of those images).

Eventually, the urologist showed up. He took one look, and said "Ah ha! So, you were in San Francisco?" "Yes" Then he whispered in my ear, "I did my residency there...I've seen everything...Don't worry, you'll be fine." He said I needed to keep it elevated, and suggested using a cable and pulley, but the nurses just tied a towel around it to keep it up.

I was in the hospital for a couple of days. During that time, there was a constant stream of people that would sort of hide their ID badge when they came up to my bed, say they were sent by my doctor to check on me, and then "examine" my penis. Of course, none of them were really from my doctor, except the little old lady using a walker, who I did recognize from my doctor's office.

As a med school student, we cut a human body all apart. Things like dicks dont even make them blink. After 12 years of schooling very and I mean very few doctors would risk their career by making a comment. You are simply a means to pay off their student loans. Nothing more.

If you are truly a medical student, and if you see patients as dollar signs, please find another profession, medicine should be a calling.

Believe it or not, if that happened in the usa, it was illegal. Youre actually not allowed to talk about another pt without consent. I know it sounds really stupid, but HR gets after people for dumb stuff like that.
Most HIPPA forms allow us to add others who may have access to your medical records. Typically spouses are added, or sometimes a child who is in a caretaker role. Assuming the husband and wife were listed on each other’s form, this would cover the provider in this instance, though it’s not something I would recommend saying.

People go into occupations for various reasons. There is no doubt many physicians felt a calling to the profession. But you dont take on a quarter mil in student loans and put up with 125 patients a day out of sheer passion. Passion doesn't pay the bills. Anything you do long enough and with regularity loses luster. Especially dealing with live people and their ailments and personalities.

I believe studying field surgery books as a child from my Dad's medical career in Vietnam would assure anyone in their right mind that I wasnt seeing patients as dollar signs. ::shrugs shoulders::

But your pie-in-the-sky thinking of how everyone should do what they do for passion only is cute. You should write Successories posters for a living. I see your passion for it.

See me in 30 years if you’re still in practice. With your attitude I’m sure you’ll be gone long before then. For the sake of patients, I hope you fail before your callous attitude does real harm.
