With you until “in bed”. Sure, it’s not impossible for two straight guys to casually cast off clothes and sleep nude under the same covers. But it would not be something, in my estimation, the overwhelming majority of straight men who would skinny dip, gang shower naked and sauna nude, would do. And that does not make them inhibited or prudish, just preferential to not sharing bed naked with other men because it seems sexual. Think about it. “Sleep with” and “go to bed” often mean in common useage “fuck”.

That is the question the original poster asked. Much of the subsequent debate has centered on whether men who would do that can possibly be straight.
Why? Because we’re men? Woman can have purely plutonic naked physical contact and that’s fine but when it’s two men it’s ‘gay’ makes me sick that everyone and everything haves to be labels when it comes to males sexuality!
Your post assumes people would behave differently but for categorizations you don’t agree with. I don’t think the labels are repressing conduct, I don’t thing straight guys want to platonic affectionate physical contact with other men — to the sadness of some.
There are exceptions to every generalization. And let me say I have no issues with the conduct I am characterizing as “gay”. I don’t disapprove of any of it.
But when two guys sleep nude in the same bed I am not off base in thinking they are likely gay or flirting with gay. (Some have posted on here that they have done this and it was not sexual, and I accept their stories and belief as true, but think overwhelmingly straight men would not do this absent exigency. Why? Cause they don’t want to!)
I see two guys hold hands walking down street. I’m not an ass for thinking — “a gay couple”.
Guy leans over in a bar and kisses another guy as he delivers him a drink, I am not harshly labeling them for thinking “he’s gay”.
Categorizing things and attaching labels should not make one sick.
There are cultural overlays to all behavior and significant variation in norms across the planet. So you can always argue nothing is intrinsically gay or straight except perhaps the sex acts themselves.
And I agree categorizing behavior presumes a shared cultural construct. I still think most western straight men would not be comfortable sleeping nude in the same bed with another naked man.
I could be dead wrong about that. But assume for argument I am right. If true, the idea that straight men mostly think this way should bother nobody.
The post above also suggests it’s a negative that women behave differently towards each other than men toward men. I don’t view that as negative at all.
