Yes we all have that. It's because as a new foetus (baby in the womb) we can develop into either male or female depending upon our genes. In other words, genitals start out the same whether male or female, but as the foetus develops a male's gonads become testes whereas a female's become ovaries; and a male develops a penis from the organ that becomes a clitoris in a female, and the vulva develops by opening at the seam you talk about.

I remember one of myy sons asking me about that when he was young...(it was in the 'what do all these parts do' stage)....I had to resist the urge to say "Go ask your mother" :)

She sent them to me, when they were discussing the length of time between our wedding, and the birth of our first child. "How was I 9 lbs, but 4 months premature?"
