when entering the chat rooms on LPSG it asks if I will allow LPSG to use my built-in camera for video chatting. It then say I my be recored. Is that true? will i be recorded? has this ever happened to anyone else? I have a mac by the way.

The room it self doesn't record - the message is a warning and a disclaimer, though, because anytime you are broadcasting your webcam on the net, wether in the LPSG vid room, or via Yahoo or MSN messenger, software exists that can record the webcam stream.

So, when you are broadcasting, it's possible that one of your viewers is recording it. Realistically, most viewers either don't want to, or don't have the software to record your cam.. but it is possible.

So, LPSG (and the makers of the chat room), wanted to give you a heads-up on the possibility.

The chat room software on this site does not record your webcam or your mic.

However, as with all content that you show via a webcam on the internet, someone watching your cam could use software that can capture what they see / hear on their screen, and make a video file of that.

The moral of this tale is to only show what you are comfortable to show, and be aware that, sadly, there are people who can, and do, engage in such activities.

From a personal point of view, I've never known anyone to do this in the LPSG chat room, but it is technically possible.
