Now, millennials get called a lot of things, usually informed. This is not the case. Assuming this is unedited, has anyone seen more videos/demonstrations like it? I'd hate to think this could be done regularly, today its a gag, tomorrow its the next political racket, preying on the uninformed in plain language. They don't even need legalese anymore.

Women petitioning to end Women's Suffrage

I remember walking out of the theatre with my Grandmother in the city after watching this movie...... (She loved Julie Andrews), I was 9 or 10 years old, I whistled for a taxi (cab, very loud), and was severley reprimanded by her because that was not the dignified thing to do for a Lady..:)

Do ya see the confusion I grew up with??? :) :) :)

First of all, the womens suffrage movement began in the 19th century. The vast majority of Gen X, Gen Y and even Baby Boomers could very easily misunderstand the term "suffrage" for general "sufferage of women" It's one of those rights that were fought for by the women before us so we didnt have to. This is how America works and unfortunately you can blame culture, media and education for the fact that our female college students don't know what "suffrage" means.

How many Americans know what the Boston Tea Party was about?

How many ethnic 20 somethings could give 3 solid facts about the civil rights movement?

How many young gay men know what happened during the Stonewall riots?

The one that really turns my stomach is when Jay Leno does the man on the street interviews and asks average citizens what the words are the the National Anthem and they don't know them. There is absolutely NO excuse for that.

The last 20 years compared to the 20 years previous, what major advancements to society or original invention has there been?

All it goes to show is that MANY people (not strictly women of course) are woefully uninformed and/or downright stupid.

MAYBE someone would be brave enough to advocate minimum awareness voting requirements?

To be fair, the guy said many times "end women's sufferaging" which is misleading and can be compared to suffering. Also, unless you have taken a US history or government class, you probably wouldn't know that women's sufferage means right to vote. It's a weird term. Plus, when one of the girls asked what it was he didn't explain.

It's certainly less than forthcoming. Even still, I'm no genius, in general or when it comes to women's rights, and probably haven't discussed the term since high school (might have been earlier), and I know what it means.

These are gals at a supposedly elite institution of higher learning (all UCSB alums feel free to laugh)...they should know what it means.

and
perhaps a little known fact, knew we were up there somewhere?

Women's suffrage also known as Woman Suffrage[1] is the right of women to vote and to stand for office. Limited voting rights were gained by women in Sweden, Finland and some western U.S. states in the late 19th century.[2] International organizations were formed to coordinate efforts, especially the International Woman Suffrage Alliance (1904).[3]
In 1893, New Zealand, then a self-governing British colony, granted adult women the right to vote

It would just lead to suffrage movements all over again.

No, its taught in high school and middle school in Florida, and seeing as Florida isn't leading in education, I don't believe many people leave public education without hearing about it two or three times; enough to have even the vaguest idea of what it is.

What bothered me most, is that they didn't ask what it was or for him to clarify. They just nodded when they heard the same word in its own definition, at best. That's not just a lack of history, but also critical thinking.

And this is where we'll differ. I don't consider the willfully ignorant to be a disenfranchised group like women and blacks used to be. Whereas the two groups mentioned obviously deserved the right to vote (and still do), I see no reason to place such a heavy responsibility in the hands of those unwilling to respect it.

But in your plan all the political advantage lies, not in promoting greater education and awareness, but in perpetuating ignorance and disenfranchisement.

I do not recommend ending the women right to vote, but I will point out that President Wilson's wife (who was very intelligent and basically ran the final year or so of his Presidency) was against the women's right to vote I believe.

How do you figure?

Call me crazy, but I consider the fear of failure to be a tremendous motivator.
