Does Your Job Require Nudity?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post it in, but I'm sure you'll let me know if it isn't :yum

Does your job require nudity in front of colleagues? For example, you work in a place where you have to shower afterwards and there are communal showers of sorts? Maybe joint change rooms?

I've seen locker rooms and showers in industrial companies, but with very little nudity (shower cubicles). The only jobs I know of which required nudity were miners, firemen and the military (and professional sport too)

I worked on the mines for a couple of years. There were also communal showers and changing rooms. The changing rooms were quite obvious - you'd have to put on quite a bit of gear if you were going underground. The mine also had a facility where one could wash overalls etc. You did not want those chemicals or grease in your machine at home! I found that most guys didn't shower there though, despite the dirt and grime from the work day. I lived in Europe for a while, and as I'm sure a lot of you would confirm, the European view on nudity is quite relaxed for the most part. It's always fascinated me how different mindsets can be based on how we are raised.
I know there are a few threads about seeing colleagues or bosses nude etc. and how it impacted your working relationship, so that isn't the point of this thread. I guess I'm more interested in the mindsets around it.
Looking around the offices where I now work, I'd say 90% of the guys would be your typical towel-dancers and would absolutely hate it if we were required to use communal showers or change rooms here.

A couple of the others wouldn't care - have seen them at the gym etc.

Every is very open here no towel wrapped at all. There can by up to 30 guys in there at once all nude. There have been a few antics over the years. There’s usually guys lined up waiting for shower heads all talking.

I imagine working in porn films would require you to be nude in front of your coworkers. :)

I'm a board member at my nudist camp, I also do what ever work needs to be done, from lawn maintenance, repairs, and greeting new guest....I might be the only one on here that is always nude while I work.

That sounds like a great job, to be honest. I feel that being nude levels the playing field, as it were. Obviously nudity does not equal sex; being nude promotes candor

When I was about 24 years old I worked at a meat processing plant. The job paid very good and once you were hired most men stayed for many years. These guys were like family, having worked together for so long. I was one of the youngest men there and we were not required of be nude or shower but showers were provided. The lower level employees had our showers and dressing room and the supervisors had their own. WE never saw them naked but they would come into our dressing room quite often so they saw all of us, who showered walking around nude. Some of the men never removed all their clothing and others didn't give a damn and would strip, walk to the showers, bath and return naked.
Nothing sexual but a lot of kidding and remarks about size. Never heard anyone say anything to a man who was small but they would comment and joke about the big ones. I remember one man telling a well hung guy that is he ever broke down in front of his house to keep going. He didn't want to take a chance of his wife seeing one that big LOL. Another man told a guy that his cock was like a catfish. Before he went into the shower it was like a catfish that had been laid out on the bank, all shriveled up, but when he came out it was like the catfish had been put back in water and swole back up LOL Just men bullshitting and trying to be funny.
I never liked getting naked in front of all the guys but I stunk, after a days work, so I grinned and beared it, so to speak LOL
The showers themselves were individual but it was the trip back and forth when you were exposed to everybody. Not to many tried to cover up. They were going to see it at some point in the dressing process anyway so why hide it.

This is how things should be. No judgment, no mocking. As you said, nothing sexual. Just get over yourself and do what needs to be done.
When I was in Europe, the first day of my job there required showering with a bunch of people I worked with. Having come from a conservative background and small town I thought I'd die since the showering scenario would be required one to two times a week. I remember speaking to my friend from home shortly after I'd arrived and telling him what a culture shock it was.
I got over it very quickly though. Especially once I realised that in an environment where it's the norm, people don't really care about who's packing what. There were some guys who were really hung, others who were on the opposite end of the scale. I never witnessed any kind of mockery etc. once.
It definitely gave me a new (and I believe healthy) perspective on nudity.

When I was in the military yes and sometimes now if I am sent out in the field. More privacy now though than back in the old days with shower stalls.

My dad and my best friend's dad were talking once. The four of us were somewhere (teenagers at the time) and had to get changed. Just shorts, still had our underwear on. We were both hesitant. I remember the two of them laughing and saying that if we had been in the military we wouldn't have such issues. Looking back now, the reluctance was quite silly, of course.

Being a letter carrier requires me to put up with nudity. Although, I put up with it less and less all the time.
I wouldn't have thought it would happen that often. Clearly I'm wrong though. How do you handle it when it does happen though?
