Is who you are physically reflective of who you are inside? And conversely is who you are inside reflective of what you look like physically?

Do you think one influenced the other? If so which one did.

If there is a disparity between the two what is it?

What personality? :09:

I'm a playful, generally flawed but decent, kinda bitchy but friendly, person, and like to think I project that in my appearance and demeanor.

Maybe this is something only others can confirm.

No disparity. I'm sure one influenced the other - to what degree, I have no idea.

I honestly have no idea. I think my friends would have to answer that. I'm a pretty animated, outgoing person and I take an inordinate amount of joy in the fun and absurdities in life and most often photographs reflect that.

However, in repose I'm told my features can look kind of severe or 'upset' which couldn't be further from the truth. I can be sort of serious and reflective internally and I philosophylize a lot in my head when I'm not concentrating on more immediate pleasures. I weigh things out a lot and I see lots of greys, where other people are more content with blacks and whites, before I come to a decision. So I have to think longer and harder before I act sometimes, perhaps.

So, disparity? I don't think so. I think it's a peaceful co-existence. But I'm going to take a poll at Christmas and get back to you. :biggrin1:

Hey, I have the same problem. I can be walking along or just sitting and thinking and a friend will ask me, "What are you angry about?". I'm like, "What? I'm not mad" and they say, "You look mad". My ex said the same thing many times until she got use to it. I furrow my brow and get an intense look on when I'm thinking deeply.

But really I don't know if my looks match my personality. I am kind of a take charge guy, in a friendly way. In work situations, other people tend to defer to me (sometimes more than I'd like). I don't yell much or get angry, but I can be kind of domineering at times. I think my body matches that, but I'm can't say if my face does.

I would say people looks, coupled with body language does reflect what's going on inside a person. Not every time, but enough that it comes out in how we react to and treat others.

Interesting question Earl.

I consider myself a pretty nice and sweet guy, but I don't know if I look like that, you'll have to check the pics in my profile.

I dunno...maybe when I'm smiling. Ask Cube...he's the only one I've met from here recently. Cube....What do you think?

I met novice years ago...but that doesn't count.

I'm generally a very easy going fella, southern values and accent. I like to make people smile. :)

I'm probably more, much more, laid-back than most people would expect from my usual attire. Not sure if my pics here give an indication of what I look like on a day-to-day basis (except for when I'm walking around naked all day of course...:biggrin1:)

Well, I look geeky. I have unkempt thick wavy hair that should have been cut two months ago and I wear big birth control glasses.....as for whether I am a geek or not....well, I've been spending a lot of time tonight trying to beat high scores in the arcade on this site, so I'll let you be the judge. Haha

Tell me what my insides look like, and then I will tell you if my outsides match.

TruckerTexman, Jovial, and Silverheart are the only ones who have met me in person.

Is who you are physically reflective of who you are inside?
Perhaps for some people. I don't think it is for me, but I could be wrong. That's a deceptively complex question.

And conversely is who you are inside reflective of what you look like physically?
Not sure how to answer this, but I do know that having a stranger compliment me on my looks or my outfit can really brighten my day.

Do you think one influenced the other? If so which one did.
Based on compliments I have received my entire life I am either cute or pretty or both. I am grateful for my good looks. I think that along with my intellect has made my life a tad bit easier than most.

If there is a disparity between the two what is it?
:dunno:

Well I had no idea how to answer this question myself so I asked someone who has met me and his reply was;
The best I could say now, and I'll say just that if you want, is that you are handsome and charming but that you seem much more reserved than you really are and that there are many more levels to your personality than first meet the eye.
Fairly accurate!

Yes and no, I kinda carry myself as I look in my pics. However, that's mostly due to the amount of morons I deal with on a daily basis. I want that look of "don't talk to me and leave me alone".

However, when not taking my own picture (blah, I can't smile for posed pictures) and not dealing with said morons, I'm smiling very often and bouncing around like a 12 year old. So my looks/personality adapt to situations I guess.

I think my appearance matches my personality. That has little to do with the bare essentials of my given physical features. I think the way I dress reflects my artistic sense. I think that sometimes when I am concentrating I have had people assume that I was angry about something or another as two other posters mentioned about themselves.
