Guns and Pitbulls, the dog I would recommend, both seem to be outlawed in Europe.
Pitbulls are great for being loyal, protective, and if you are looking for a protection dog, bad-ass when they need to be. Before the dog fighting took over the breed were referred to as Nanny Dogs, their reputation of being good with children was well known. They do need exercise and a job. My big boy Bubs' job is to keep the ObbleGooble from attacking the house. Usually done by barking at the mailman and random suspicious objects that might prove to be obblegoobles. My girl Spaz keep Bubs in check. Lil Dude, my newest addition, has the demanding task of being 4 months old and fucking adorable.
I myself have pibble mix breeds cuz they are the most common dog found in American animal shelters. Many people run into problems with renting and breed rules.
My honest answer hit the local shelters up. The caretakers will be able to point you to a dog that will fit you and your lifestyle.
