Well, I'm not happy. I liked him and loved his show. It's funny too 'cause I always hated him and said I'd never watch his show until this one day when I was with my brother and he forced (not really) me to watch it. I instantly liked it. His born-again stuff was sometimes tedious but you knew he was chasing after these people because he genuinely wanted to change their lives for the better. Nothing can excuse what he said, but he has apologized and I think that should've counted for something.

No it shouldn't have counted for anything. He said what he said because that's how he really feels. I have no doubt that there was a calling campaign to have his show removed. We as a society have to 'help' him change his life for the better by showing him that his thinking is unacceptable. The color of people's skin is meaningless. If he wants to hate people, fine, but do it for reasons they can control. Like thieves, or rapists, or Republicans.

So anyone who is an individualist is racist? Racism is the same as individualism? Anyone who isn't racist is a conformist?

You are basically condoning racism. I suppose the KKK is full of individualist.

Hooray for homogeneity!

Praise be to the gods of TeeVee...forgive us our individuality and save us from our differences!

But on a more pragmatic level, TV depends upon sponsor support. No business is going to sponsor a man perceived by some to be a racist.

So, some of you can scream about "homogeny" (not that I "get" or agree with that argument), but the real issue here is money. The companies that dropped his show most likely don't give a fuck what his views are. They may be as racist (and homophobic) as he is, but they don't say so outright. All they care about is money, and his racist statements may get in the way of them making it.

I love the fact that he is even considered having a Hollywood career! (I'm be sarcastic)
Most people in Hawaii hate him!

No, he's toast. Look at Michael Richards an Mel Gibson. Say something anti-semitic or use the "n-word" and your career in Hollywood is over. There's no way to recover from this.

Firstly, you can't even put him in a class with those two. It is truly apples and oranges. Not to mention it runed Richards because he has failed at everything since Seinfeld and he is Jewish. Mel is not Jewish and considered a bit of a religious zealot so naturally his incidents didn't ruin his career.

Dog will be back because he is not a Hollywood power and if he was, the example of Mel Gibson would say he will be back.

that racist will soon be back on the air just like imus.

Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if Imus has him on his shw to talk about it as a kind of "fuck you" to the system.

Most people in Hawaii hate him!

BINGO! The man is a redneck in Island clothing and the natives hate him and hate him even more because he is viewed as a Hawaiian. Dog is not Hawaiian, and the native Hawaiians are glad.

But it's not a nice word...if anyone from any nationality, race or religion wants to use the words about themsevle or their group, it's up to them, I don't agree with it...but as a gay jewish lawyer I find offense in being boiled down to he lowest common denominator of terms in the english language!

Well said nudeyorker. I have to agree with you. And for the record, I think black people calling each other "nigger" amounts to about the most ignorant logic in any culture.

I wasn't a watcher of his show anyway. There is little on TV watching anyway. Just another waste of time, along with all the other mind numbing programs.

Michael Richards isn't Jewish. And "firstly" isn't a word.

Firstly, you can't even put him in a class with those two. It is truly apples and oranges. Not to mention it runed Richards because he has failed at everything since Seinfeld and he is Jewish. How do you know that's how he really feels? He was on Larry King the other day saying that it isn't how he feels. You can believe him or not, but he also had his pastor (who is black) on the show with him saying that he believes him and that he doesn't think Dog is a racist. Don't you think his pastor would know him better than you or I?

And I'm sorry, but an apology counts for a lot in my book if it's sincere, and there's no reason to believe that his wasn't sincere.

Wow, I would hate to be in your position. Your people have had to put up with predujice and hatred for years and are pretty much hated by a large population of the world.

But don't worry. I'm sure there are some people out there who like lawyers. :biggrin1:

I loved the show...and frankly did not give a flip if he used the n word or not. What I find is the people who are complaining about "N" word dont seem to care about when blacks say it to another fellow black. Dont ya think that is calling the Kettle black and rather lopsided thinking?

Besides, I think the people of today are rather thin skinned and anything to cause trouble. Words are just words and I have been called all sorts of words and it makes me that much stronger everytime and it makes the other person who is saying it look that much more stupid. I would never ever give anyone the satisfaction of getting upset....
