It seems his death was eclipsed by that of Teddy Kennedy.

Apparently he's been ill (with cancer) for quite some time which makes sense because it's been a while since I've seen anything by him in Vanity Fair even about the Phil Spector trial which he'd been covering.

I've been a big fan of his work for a long time and I will miss him.

Though saddened by his death I am a bit relieved that he won't be able to right some garish tell-all book about Teddy Kennedy.

His book "Another City, Not My Own" is one of the most beautiful and accurate portraits of Los Angeles (read Bel Air, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood) that exists. Also a photo book and essay of life in Southern California in the late 1950s and early 1960s is manificent. He had more talent than he ever would acknowledge who had great insite into the celebrity crazed world we now live in as well as a great appreciation of the true glamor and substance of years gone by.

My mother and stepfather knew him in California back in the day. I met him at a few events over the past 10 years or so; he was a very gracious gentleman.

Yes, a gracious and gentle soul even after having had to endure the murder of his daughter and the subsequent slap on the wrists conviction of John Thomas Sweeney as merely voluntary manslaughter-which brought hiim out of jail in less than 5 years and set him (Sweeney) back on the street.

Okay, now this is getting even spookier. Rock'n'roll songwriter Ellie Greenwich dies | News | NME.COM Greenwich of course along with her husband Jeff Barry often worked in collaboration with Spector. (he of The Wall of Sound).

    Greenwich wrote several songs, including:

    ALL GROWN UP
    The Crystals
    AND THEN HE KISSED ME
    The Crystals
    BABY I LOVE YOU
    The Ronnettes
BE MY BABY The RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) and The NEA (National Endowment For The Arts).....have included this song on their list of the Greatest Songs Of The 20th Century
Reparata and The Delrons, (although made more famous by The Ronnettes)
Reparata and The Delrons are better known by most for: YouTube - Whenever A Teenager Cries - Reparata & The Delrons

    CHAPEL OF LOVE
    The Dixie-Cups,
    DA DOO RON RON
The Crystals (and yes I have this on a 45)
    DO WAH DIDDY DIDDY
Manfred Mann, (also done by Reparata and The Delrons),
    DON'T EVER LEAVE ME
    Ted Hawkins
    HANKY PANKY
    Tommy James and The Shondells
    I CAN HEAR MUSIC
    The Beach Boys
    I HAVE A BOYFRIEND
    The Chiffons
I'LL NEVER NEED MORE THAN THIS
    Ike & Tina Turner

LEADER OF THE PACK The RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) and The NEA (National Endowment For The Arts).....have included this song on their list of the Greatest Songs Of The 20th Century
