It's amazing how he went from a play that was controversial entiled Fortune and Men's Eyes that was written by John Hubert, also directed and starred Sal Mineo himself to Miami Vice...that's a huge leap of faith. Did he ever talk about his beginnings at all interviews regarding that controversial play at all? I found it interesting how an young unknown 19 year old Don Johnson got his recognition then, even the play was considered too graphic for 1969 for that prison rape scene, I believe.
Though I would been too young to see the play itself(I wasn't born yet), did any of you either read it or saw Fortune and Men's Eyes? Just curious to know...it seemed to be like a precursor to OZ years later, but then I don't know. I haven't read it, either.
