Don Kirshner's Midnight Special changed my world one night in early 1974 when Gladys KNIGHT introduced (more like unleashed) JOBRIATH; rock's first openly gay musician, into our living rooms. I, and the entire audience were dumbstruck as no one had ever dared what he did on national television. It opened my eyes to a world I had not even imagined. Thanks Don!

I remember when I was really young (and on those rare evenings I somehow got to stay up super late) how I would be disappointed when this show came on. It was only later, when it was practically gone that I began to appreciate it.

A wave of nostalgia has just washed over me.
