It's one of Antonin Scalia's legacies.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/26/us/supreme-court-ruling.html?_r=0

Somehow the conservatives at the Supreme Court made a case for themselves that because minority voter turnout was high with the act in place, that the act was no longer necessary.

Affected states have gone apeshit in their attempts to disenfranchise voters ever since and are constantly getting hauled into Federal court.

Yes, which is why it's NO coincidence Trump said his Supreme Court pick would be modeled after Scalia. HIS constituency got the message LOUD AND CLEAR.

Btw, so did WE.

Man... at least he was addressing his own supporters and not Clinton's :p

Exactly. And it wouldn't have been the FIRST time the GOP tried to give opposing voters the WRONG date:

AND for a more in dept look at what tricks, mostly REPUBLICANS have pulled and WILL pull this election (which, btw, is EXACTLY why Trump wants his constituency looking the other way):

This is what Dump is saying today (transcribed from videos broadcast on The News Hour): "These vicious claims about me, of inappropriate conduct with women, are totally and absolutely false. . . . They’re pure fiction, and they’re outright lies. These events never happened. . . . These attacks are orchestrated by the Clintons and their media allies. . . . They have corrupted the director of the FBI. . . . This is a conspiracy against you, the American people."

Not completely sure but i think i might be getting the gist of donald trump's overall plan here. And it isn't all that far from what posters here suspected.

EXCLUSIVE: IS DONALD TRUMP’S ENDGAME THE LAUNCH OF TRUMP NEWS?

"Every election cycle has its own breakout media star. In 1992, it was CNN. A few years later, it would be an e-mail blast called the Drudge Report. By 2000, the country had more or less been neatly delineated between MSNBC and Fox News households. The 2008 election introduced Politico and the Huffington Post to the adults’ table. BuzzFeed joined in 2012.

The breakout media star of 2016 is, inarguably, Donald Trump, who has masterfully—and horrifyingly—demonstrated an aptitude for manipulating the news cycle, gaining billions of dollars worth of free airtime, and dominating coverage on every screen. Now, several people around him are looking for a way to leverage his supporters into a new media platform and cable channel.

Trump is indeed considering creating his own media business, built on the audience that has supported him thus far in his bid to become the next president of the United States. According to several people briefed on the discussions, the presumptive Republican nominee is examining the opportunity presented by the “audience” currently supporting him. He has also discussed the possibility of launching a “mini-media conglomerate” outside of his existing TV-production business, Trump Productions LLC. He has, according to one of these people, enlisted the consultation of his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who owns the The New York Observer. Trump’s rationale, according to this person, is that, “win or lose, we are onto something here. We’ve triggered a base of the population that hasn’t had a voice in a long time.” For his part, Kushner was heard at a New York dinner party saying that “the people here don’t understand what I’m seeing. You go to these arenas and people go crazy for him.” (Both Kushner and Ivanka Trump did not respond to a request for comment.)"

The Trump-Ailes Buddy Act
"Trump TV.

What other explanation could there be for Donald Trump’s retaining Roger Ailes, the ousted chairman of Fox News and serial misogynist, as a top adviser to his presidential campaign?

Mr. Trump was already losing the women’s vote by double digits before last week, when multiple charges of sexual harassment against Mr. Ailes forced 21st Century Fox to pay the former anchor Gretchen Carlson a $20 million settlement. Surely Mr. Trump can’t now be counting on Mr. Ailes to dig him out of that hole and help him win the White House … right?"

---
All of this simply to rile people up and have a fox news to himself. And thats because fox news has made so much money so far off of their idiot base that he knows he can also get away with it. To top it off he's friends with roger ailes. A man who also thought he could just..get away with it.

If trump wins he wins. If he loses.....he still wins. Unless of course, the american public isn't as stupid as he thinks they are in both outcomes.

One of Trump’s female supporters said she would happily give up her right to vote if it ensured his victory.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

They obviously have no idea what the hell is going on... years and years in their conservative bubble has made their minds soft like ricotta cheese. They set up their calculators where 4+4=7 for so many years that their entire mathematic tables are all a big fat mess... any models they run going forward will be completely wrong.

The bottom is indeed falling out...........

Forget Virginia. Or Colorado. Or lots of other traditional swing states. Right now, Donald Trump's campaign is in such bad free fall, states that haven't voted for a Democrat in generations are suddenly coming into play as the Republican nominee's path to 270 electoral votes collapses all around him.

Over the past 72 hours, polls have come out in Alaska, Texas and Utah that show Trump narrowly ahead of Hillary Clinton. That comes on top of data that suggests Republican-friendly states likes Arizona and Georgia are already a jump ball between Clinton and Trump.

The 2016 electoral map is collapsing around Donald Trump

Simply put: Trump is not just in danger of losing, he is in danger of causing a fundamental reorganization of the electoral map that could set back Republicans for a number of future elections.

And yesterday the Trump campaign pulled out of Virginia:

Donald Trump's campaign is "pulling out of Virginia," a move that stunned staff in the battleground state, three sources with knowledge of the decision told NBC News.

The decision came from Trump's headquarters in New York and was announced on a conference call late Wednesday that left some Republican Party operatives in the state blindsided. Two staffers directly involved in the GOP's efforts in Virginia confirmed the decision.

The move to pull out of Virginia shows Trump is "running essentially a four state campaign," with the focus now shifting to battlegrounds critical to his chances in November: Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio, a source with knowledge of the decision told NBC News.
