"In April 15, 2008, Thiel pledged US$500,000 to the new Seasteading Institute, directed by Patri Friedman, whose mission is "to establish permanent, autonomous ocean communities to enable experimentation and innovation with diverse social, political, and legal systems".[48] This was followed in February 2010 by a subsequent grant of $250,000, and an additional $100,000 in matching funds.[49] . . .

According to the Daily Mail Peter Thiel was inspired to do so by Ayn Rand's philosophical novel Atlas Shrugged.[52]"

So some of these people would just . . . go somewhere else?

Hmmm . . .

Hope we can hold the pattern. The Texas shift is truly siesmic even if not a win for Hillary.

The election is in 15 days. And the electoral map just keeps looking grimmer and grimmer for Donald Trump.

We are making three changes to The Fix map this week, all favoring Hillary Clinton.

----

And, finally — and much to our amazement — we are adding Texas to our list of competitive states, rating it as "lean Republican." The last three polls taken in the state have shown Trump ahead by three points (twice) and four points; the Real Clear Politics polling average in the state puts Trump up 4.6 points. It speaks to how badly Trump is performing even in longtime Republican strongholds that the debate going forward won't be whether Texas should stay on the list of competitive races but whether it should move to "toss up."

Donald Trump’s chances of winning are approaching zero

"Donald Trump used small donors’ money to buy nearly $300,000 worth of books from the publisher of his Art of the Deal last month, continuing a pattern of plowing campaign money back into his own businesses."

"Salma Hayek delivered a blistering rebuke to Donald Trump on Monday, calling the Republican presidential nominee a “pathetic” man who creates “only violence and separation.”

“He calls us criminals — but who is the one who has a [fraud] lawsuit for Trump University?” Hayek asked rhetorically. “He calls us rapists — but who has a lawsuit for raping a young girl?”

"Some Republicans are running so far away from their party’s nominee that they are threatening to sue TV stations for running ads that suggest they support Donald Trump.

Just two weeks before Election Day, five Republicans ― Reps. Bob Dold (R-Ill.), Mike Coffman (R-Colo.), David Jolly (R-Fla.), John Katko (R-N.Y.) and Brian Fitzpatrick, a Pennsylvania Republican running for an open seat that’s currently occupied by his brother ― contend that certain commercials paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee provide false or misleading information by connecting them to the GOP nominee.

Trump is so terrible, these Republicans are essentially arguing, that tying them to him amounts to defamation."

"... on Monday morning, the Republican presidential nominee put forth a surprisingly specific proposal: He is going to cut “70 to 80 percent” of federal regulations if he wins the White House."

Can we say it? Can we whisper it? Can we yell it? Donald Trump is fucking nuts.

It's amazing how needy, shallow, and fragile he is. He has a combination of traits that make him completely unsuitable for a job in public service and in a role that requires flexibility, depth, and toughness.

Trump is throwing in the towel it seems and retreating to that nether conservative-land we know so well were voodoo economics work, enhanced interrogation works, climate change is China's doing to get the US, Obama is a Muslim, Hillary should be in jail, the list is endless. The problem is not enough of America lives on that planet to win an election.

At a time when most presidential campaigns are trying to widen their reach to the largest possible audience during the final weeks of the campaign, Donald Trump seems to be consciously contracting and burrowing down. Rattled by the release of audio tapes that revealed the predatory language he uses about women and how he plots his assaults on them, Trump’s been withdrawing into the fringe media.

This retreat is even deeper into the confines of non-reality than Trump’s previous withdrawal into the Fox News bubble. That was when, beginning late summer, Trump began appearing almost exclusively on Fox News, and then within Fox News, appearing almost exclusively on the show of his most ardent supporter, Sean Hannity, and the friendly confines of Fox & Friends.

Trump in Toledo, OH today: "We should just cancel the election and just give it to Trump."

http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/27/politics/donald-trump-cancel-election/index.html

Think about what that means: a man running for the presidency of the United States of America proposes that he should simply be appointed to the office and not be subject to the electoral process.

Of course, he will say that he was "being sarcastic." I wonder if he will add again, "but not that sarcastic"?

Donald Trump Reportedly Didn’t Know What A Gold Star Family Was

Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of Capt. Humayun Khan, a soldier who died while protecting his unit in 2004, appeared at the Democratic National Convention in July, after the GOP presidential nominee had attacked Muslims. Trump responded to the stirring speech Khizr Khan gave by suggesting that the soldier’s mother had not been allowed to speak on stage because she’s a Muslim. Ghazala Khan said she did not speak because she was too upset.

New York Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman reported on Saturday that when one adviser warned Trump he had just attacked a Gold Star family, the GOP nominee responded “what’s that?” The term is commonly used to refer to any family that has lost a loved one in war. The United States has officially recognized these families since 1936.

To be honest, i didn't know what a gold star family was either. Then again i'm not running to be the president of the united states now am i.

his not making the presidency gives him the ideal out,of that one anyway ..
