The key to winning the GOP's heart is clear:

Following his proposal to temporarily bar Muslims from entering the country, Donald Trump has increased his lead in the Republican primary to its largest margin yet, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

In face of criticism, Trump surges to his biggest lead over the GOP field
Bash and bash away all those ain't like us.
I'm loving this! All those who say that this isn't the Republican Party should be shown this. The base that they've cultivated throughout the years is now following one who says outright what they were once told in coded speech.

I would add that Fox News more than anything else made this possible by giving the bat shit crazy views of extremist a platform to be aired with such regularity that they seem credible.

So much for the claims of "fair and balanced". They are just as afraid of angering their viewers so no real anger is shown towards Trump' statement.

The really appalling thing is that the people who are supporting Trump really believe this sort of garbage.

At a campaign rally in Las Vegas yesterday, GOP presidential frontrunner and aspiring “good guy with a gun” Donald Trump said that if he lived in Paris, he would’ve been able to shoot the terrorists who murdered scores of people in cafes and a concert hall last month, thus averting the attack.

“If a few of those people that are now dead, if a few of those people had guns strapped to their ankles or strapped to their waists, you wouldn’t have the problem, right?” Trump said. “If I were there, I’m licensed to carry, I will tell you this, if I were there, if somebody were there, if we had some firepower in the opposite direction, those people would’ve been gone.”

Trump's enduring popularity really illustrates just how many people there are in this country whose only political concerns are guns, immigration, abortion, and other very narrow and disconnected issues. It's frightening to realize just how few voters understand the fundamental structural problems of our government and instead only care about less taxes and more defense spending. I'm really not looking forward to the escalating hysteria that will play out in the media over the next 11 months

^ Funny that you mention less taxes and more defense spending, seeing as how Trump's supporters apparently believe he can afford to build the Great Wall, put troops into armed combat, increase defense spending, and cut corporate taxes while at the same time reducing personal income taxes.

That's been the 30year ruse right? And we have nothing but red ink and the greatest income disparity since the Guilded Age to show for it. And the sham still works astonishingly. It was debt debt debt. It was Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi It was Saddam Saddam Saddam. All until we say it isn't so. They never ever go back and review policy successes and failures. I suppose when they're all failures you really don't want to review them. Just keep the low information voters in a fear based panic over the next ruse.

DJ is truly a disgusting individual. How anyone can wish for him to represent their country is beyond me. His latest diatribe on Clinton is something one would expect to hear in a locker room or in an internet forum like this one, not uttered in public by a potential Presidential candidate.

What a loser

He's a demagogue and opportunistic RABBLE rouser, the latter being the precise definition of his core support group.

Let's not fall into the false hope that MOST Americans are any more intelligent or informed than people in other countries or locales. Case in point, most Republicans STILL believe Obama is Muslim and not a U.S. citizen.

So make NO mistake about it, he HAS quite effectively tapped into the fears, bigotries, prejudices, and the MINDSET of a WHOLE lot more people than what is readily apparent, and quite frankly, I, for one, haven't the faith that Chuck Todd and SOME around here seem to have that he'd haven't a prayer in a general election.

I guarantee you that even those 50% who, according to recent polls (in the report below), would reportedly be embarrassed to have him as president, and including those HERE who've disavowed him in writing while tacitly supporting much of the ideology, would pull that lever for Donald Trump LONG before they'd ever do so for a Clinton OR a Sanders:

I don't think this latest example of jackassery will harm Trumps numbers. From what I understand about the Trump voter, it doesn't matter what rhetoric the Donald uses. They believe he can do what he says he can do (build a wall along the southern border, ban Muslims from entering the country, etc..) one way or another. "TRUMP CAN DO IT! Those other guys are nothing but talk. Give me ACTION!"... as long as that belief remains, he can say damn near anything he wants and they will do nothing but defend him.

It's no wonder: he gets free political advertising from CNN hourly and at least daily from the networks--doesn't have to spend a damned dime for it. Could be that he'll be elected with the media doing free advertising for him.
It's amazing to watch him blow lies out of his wherever on a daily basis...

Oh Donald, lie to me! Lie to me harder! Lie to me deeper!

Trump
The Presidents of the United States of America

Trump lingered last in line for brains
and the one he got was sorta rotten and insane
Small things so sad that birds could land
Is Trump fast asleep or rockin' out with the band?

He's Trump, he's Trump
He's in my head
He's Trump, he's Trump, he's Trump
He might be dead

Jim Gilmore is probably the most credible of all republican candidates. Yet still he does not seem to be in touch with what is really going on in the world. Jim Gilmore on the Issues

There just does not seem to be any candidate that has a long term view other than " force the American way upon others"

What exactly is the American way these days? Is it the will of the American people, or the will of the few privileged American people?
