It is my personal choice to be offended by someone referring to me as girl. It's nothing to make into an issue it's just that I'm not a dog or a child so I don't appreciate it. This isn't meant to sound angry but it's how I feel about the issue and I am sure that when I am deemed older or more mature I definitely won't be wishing someone would refer to me as girl especially as an African American.(This is not a race issue either)
Like you said, its your personal choice to be offended.
That has nothing to do with the intentions of the person who says it.
That's resentment and upset that you are creating in your own life for no reason whatsoever...
And if you expect everyone to tiptoe around your unreasonable sensitivity... well, then you are in for an awful lot of offense that you are entirely the cause of.
And might I point out that to say, in the same sentence, that you won't be wishing someone to refer to you as a 'girl' as an African American... and that its NOT a race issue... is just pure hypocrisy.
If your racial heritage factors at all into when and why you are offended at what, then it absolutely IS a race issue... for you.
It is really a sad and pointless sorrow to choose to find offense in something no one intends to be offensive.
