I've been jelqing off and on for a while. Still messing around with new routines to figure out what works for me etc etc.

I've gotten those little broken blood vessels in the head that I've read about... just little red specks. But I'm getting a new (but similar) injury now. I'm getting broken blood vessels in the shaft; and not just little specks. Sometimes on the under side of my shaft, I'll get a big cluster of broken blood vessels and it looks like I have a really small but intense hickey on my penis. Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm applying more pressure than a regular jelq and focusing mostly on the back and sides of the shaft. It feels good. I feel like I'm working it, but it doesn't hurt. But then there it is...

How can I avoid the hickey dick?

As uncut said, take it easy.

No need to jelq with intense pressure, especially for the first few months. Also make sure you give your penis plenty of rest.

    What's your current routine like?

    Routine:

soft jelq for about 5 min
hard jelq for about 5 min
two handed hard jelq* for about 5 min
the previously mentioned tight back/side grip jelq for about 5 min
then i edge three times if i'm up for it

I do something like that 5 days a week.

    * - Two handed hard jelq is something I just kind of started doing on my own. Haven't read about it or anything. It just felt right, so I went with it. I keep one hand at the very base and manually clamp blood in. With the other, I jelq. I just realized that when I jelq, the blood goes off I guess to the rest of the body by the time my stroke reaches the head. I want to keep that blood where it belongs, so I clamp it in.

The idea of the routine is to progressively get more intense as you go. Maybe the last exercise is too intense or I should spend more time on the lighter exercises like the soft jelq before moving on.

What do you guys do to warm up? How long? I've been looking at the soft jelq as a warm up, but maybe that's not enough? Or maybe that last exercise is just bad news. Has anyone else tried anything like it?

Yes, you must warm-up. Soft jelqing isn't enough. Use the rice sock in the microwave if moist towels are too much hassle.

It sounds like you're jelqing too hard, squeezing too tightly. Your dick doesn't need a wringer, just go gently. It takes a while, 3+ months to get your penis in shape for the more advanced things.

The grip you've discovered is called an Uli, and they're more advanced. You may want to wait on them until your dick is in shape.
