I have been on DoubleList since 2018, when CraigsList Personals closed down, due to legality reasons. Here's what I have noticed.
First off, DoubleList is an ad/post service link/hookup site, which one replies and the poster replies back through email. The interactions are strictly email only after this. There is a choice to do messages with emails, or to do both email and messages on DoubleList.
DoubleList can be used for free, which tends to bring allot of folks who do not want to pay or cannot pay for services. This can have drawbacks, such as criminal issues, lower class and lower quality induviduals. DoubleList may have noticed this and caught onto wanting money after Covid-19, like the rest of the US companies, to attempt to keep afloat. Now, it does get easier to post ads, but one can only renew ads every 3 days. Depending on your package, you may only post 1-10 ads per day.
Since using the DoubleList site as a poster, I have run into copious guys that are just not willing to meet. Many of them won't reply, offer a later time and ghost, collect guy's pictures, nose around seeing who is posting, make excuses on why they have not made it to my place, etc. I have found DoubleList users make the site mostly unusable, from the replyer side. From me replying to ads myself, it is totally useless. Nobody replied after I hit them up to play. Pics and stats and what I was looking for was in my reply to their ad.
Security is an issue on DoubleList. I have mentioned these to Doublelist, which were NEVER fixed. Doublelist never scrambles or hides email addresses. Once the person replies to your ad, you can see their email address and vice versa after that. Craigslist hid email addresses. Doublelist, via Zendesk, says the matter is out of their hands once I reply to the person answering my ad.
Another issue I discussed was blocks are NEVER holding and never did hold. This could lead to harassment and safety issues. No reply was given on this issue. Yes, I was a paying member. I chose to stop my payments.
DoubleList does spam users on the site, making it look like you need to upgrade to become a member and use the free site. This is a very bad practice.
DoubleList also blurs pictures for those who do not pay. Since I post my pictures, I never send them. Sending pictures usually gives permission to "smash onebout" or jack to the pictures and not meet. I am online to meet only. Cheapos want free jack off material.
Also, DL has messages, which you get scam messages on DL, when you do not check "messages". I only wish to get email messages, yet I get spam/scam messages on DL, when i should not.
Some guys may have had luck using DL. I have not. I just come across masterbators wanting pics. Plus, with no incentives to meet, DL does not work for me.
I have used Men Seeking Men sections of Gay for Straight and Men for Men. I am hearing guys looking for Cis Females have scamming and fraud/potential hijack issues.
Not worth the time or electricity cost to run the servers.
