Downloading videos

Does anyone have a good way to download videos to my hard drive?

Ideally, I'd like to install a button on Safari Firefox (windows version) which does this. I've looked in various "add-on" pages, but nothing seems to work. the 'help' forums do not in fact help. They refer to features which I can never find.

Can anyone here advise me?

Well first off - Safari and Firefox are two different browsers. Which one do you have?

I am now using Chrome, having had to give up the excellent Firefox for various technical and Thai reasons. How do I save vids using Chrome? I assume that Download Helper only works with Firefox.

Was having many issues w/ FFox 3.x ( as found on Mozilla's unmonitored forums)
Now resort to IE7 on Winxp SP3 running clean, at least most of time
Yet still missing that great -lean FlashGot AddIn with right click features providing direct *flv downloads ...
Its a fast, simple interface, multiple format file DLoader capable of :
Grabbing Flash(.flv) video streams from nearly any page or site

Note: In FFx as I recall it,
- FlashGot would (StandAlone) Or allow integration into DownLoad Helper extension

As a non-gamer - what I've seen of the unneeded more complex DL Managers Apps:

FlashGet - known bug with nvidia drv. install attempts

Orbit, LeechGet2.1 & FreeDM - have tried with various configs - but they still don't match the FlashGot criteria above ^
(some only working with a few limited/supported sites)

Just my 2 cents, it might help others :dunno:
