Have not listened to her in years. Quite
the litmus test to see if you were liberal or
conservative. If you are conservative you most likely
love her. If you are liberal chances are
you hate her . Well, so where do you
stand? Very hard NOT to have an opinion
    about her.

If I turn on the radio, it's certainly not to listen to a talk show.
With that said, after the recent verbal gaffe & racial tirade by Dr. Laura it doesn't surprise me that she may be "quitting". What's worse is that listening to her drop the N-bomb 11 times wasn't even the worst of it.

I say get rid of her and replace her with something more useful... like a 3 hour, nonstop mix show dedicated to Techno.

Okay, two liberals so far. Are there any conseratives
here who will speak more in her favor?

Used to be conservative, now moderate. Hate her. In fact, I wrote her last week telling her how caustic, negative, bitter and empty her radio show was. :-0

She was interesting in her religious walk.
Rather irreligious at first, then influenced by her son's interest in Conservative Judaism, then converting to Orthodox Judaism, and finally becoming somewhat Christian.
(Who knows what she is now? But, by her own lights, she certainly evolved, at least in the sense of maintaining movement.)
I found her too extreme and full of certainty, personally.
In fact, her celebrity astonished me. This often seemed like a woman who had at most one foot in the modern world. But at one point, she was carried on 450 radio stations and had an audience second only to Rush Limbaugh's in size.

She is very well known to give her callers quite
a hard time (sometimes deservingly so) It was always fun
to hear her go into full tyrade fashion, on some poor sole
who just made too many poor life decisions, come on you
people surely you want to do it as well....and get paid for i

now that is the American dream!

    That's just about it.
It was like an MMA encounter, except Dr. Laura was the only one able to make contact.
It was a term of engagement that she could bully you if she had the slightest hankering to do so.

I wonder if she's actually quitting of her own volition or if her syndicater told her, "Quit or get fired." At least if she quits she can go out with dignity rather than kicking and screaming like Don Imus did after his famous off-handed remarks.

Of course, I never liked the bitch anyway, so good riddance!

She's always was a shallow bully and I'm glad she doesn't have platform to spew from any longer.

Please...she was and is a glorified physical education major who, along with every other single person on radio has followed, or tried to emulate in their own way, the template of Howard Stern. It hasn't worked for her or anyone else. Radio in the 30's and 40's was the theater of the mind. Television came along and quickly rendered radio obsolete. There were various interesting purveyors of the medium in the interim...Paul Harvey for instance. Then Howard came along and completely revolutionized the medium. You can't fake controversial. You have to be clever to get away with it. Laura Schlessinger said the N word...shocking. Out of context it's, of course, crass and banal. To be fair, she did seem to attempt her version of political commentary. It didn't work. That doesn't mean she has to retire, but I think it's a great excuse for her to get out while she can. Does anybody really give her enough importance to care what she said and does anybody really care if she goes away?

She gets paid to be entertaining and provocative, she's a radio personality.

If she was nice, pleasant, and uncontoversial, NO ONE would turn into her show and switch the dial out of pure boredom. She's like a cold sore you like to tongue.

Her message of tough love gets boring quickly however and she's a phoney who doesn't practice what she preaches. She is really a slut who has posed nude in photographs and has a very base side of her past which she doesn't fess up to yet she holds such a high moral standard for her callers when she herself quite doesn't live up to her own rhetoric. Typical conservative MO.

Dr Laura Schlesinger is not an easy lady to respect. She sounds good on the surface and for a time she generated ratings. Her radio personality has the same appeal as other ultra conservative individuals in that she speaks with authority even if she does not know what she is talking about. There is no doubt that this radio personality creates ratings and if you are a radio station looking for "market share" this is what you want. The advice of "Dr. Laura" has based on the gravity and lack of knowledge of an individual situations ended marriages, caused children to run away from home, and just possibly under the worst of circumstances resulted in loss in life when a parent used "tough love" instead of "rehab". The beauty of all of this is that because she is a "radio personality" her show is basically aired for "entertaiment purposes" and for that reason she and the stations carrying her show are not held responsible for what she says when it backfires.

Goodbye Dr. Laura and I wish you well, you will walk off with your money, you will walk away with a radio personna, but in truth Dr. Laura you will probably have done far more harm than good because there is no manner in which you can give good complete advice to any person in the time available for a "quickie" radio spot.

She also had a policy of not letting past callers call back to give any "updates" on their situation or comment on her oh so helpful "advice".

She's a crock of shit. Ta ta bitch from hell. What goes around comes around.

Yep. Just as I said. You either love her or you hate her.
It's hard to have no opinion about. Dr. Laura,
