I've done it too, with rental cars. Hate when that happens!
After 20+ years of driving a stick, pushing in a clutch to change gears is second nature. Really.
I think it's hard to change between manual and auto, but I now drive auto and wouldn't want to go back to manual. Too much like hard work!
That's what my man says. He drives an automatic because it's easier; I drive a stick because I want to choose what gear I'm in at any given moment.
But three-pedal cars are becoming rarer in the USA. Even BMW has problems selling cars with sticks. I don't like these automated manuals, these Tiptronic pieces of shit, these paddle shifters--all of them are pains in the asses because they don't let me choose a gear using a clutch pedal. And no, it's definitely not "the same thing," as some younger people try to tell me. Just like it's not the same thing to learn in an online course as it is when you and your instructor are face to face.
