Actually, Black's Beach includes both the southern half administered by the City of San Diego and the northern half which is a part of the Torrey Pines State Beach. Nudity is not allowed on the southern half and it is allowed on the northern stretch. The last I was there I found it interesting that at the boundary between the two jurisdictions there was no sign indicating that nudity was allowed to the north, but when traveling south I did encounter a sign that proclaimed clothing was required south of that point.

I am not surprised at anything that happens at the gym, Y or health club. I go to the Y 5-7 times a week and there is seldom a day that I am not shocked at the lack of manners, common sense and rudeness from other males. It doesn't matter about the age it happens from all age groups. I just don't get it.
I'm not sure what happened, but we've become more uncivilized in our culture while politically-correcting ourselves.
I don't think we'll ever head back into a more polite and well-mannered world.

I like olde Perry Mason TV programs. People address each other properly as Mr., Mrs., and Miss. In court they all dress so nicely; the men all wear coats and ties and the women are properly dressed with hats and gloves. I wonder how many men now know how to tie a tie. I remember that my mother had a drawer full of gloves for every occasion. Some gloves were elbow-length, some wrist length, and some were in between. For her first two years of college, she was at an all girls school. They had a contest to see who could get to town wearing the fewest items of clothing; they had to pass the matron's office to leave campus. The girl who won wore a raincoat, hat, and a pair of gloves.
It certainly seems that we are less polite and well-mannered.
My home Y has a small single bay locker room and a six head open shower. Like most guys I strip and walk to and from showers naked. Why would I wrap a towel around me to take 10 steps to take it off again? My towel is a tool to dry myself not hide my dick.
I am a diplomatic kind of guy. But nudity, especially in a locker room/shower situation, is so very natural. Natural to (some of) us, and natural to the environment. Most kids see their dad's wang, so seeing another one, in the locker room/shower environment, wouldn't be that big a deal. People can be so defensive about men and their dicks sometimes. Yes we like to use them, and often; however, that doesn't mean we want to use them 100% of the time on 100% of people (or animals, minerals, or vegetables).
I think I would've liked to have said "Fuck off!" and went about my business. In reality, because of my diplomatic nature and the presence of the kids, I might have tried to tell him to fuck off when the young ones weren't immediately present.

Not only that, but if you were to wrap the towel around your sweaty body before showering, the results would be less hygienic; it would make no sense.
I don't visit this site as often as I used to, and it's been a long time since I made a post or commented on anything. Since I am the original poster of this thread, I found it amusing when I saw this post back into circulation, since I posted it three years ago.
The guy who said to me "Dude, you should wear a towel" disappeared from the gym for a while, but he's been back for a couple of months or so. I saw him in the locker room recently, and I have to admit that I deliberately walked right in front of him on my way to the showers, butt naked, my towel in hand, letting my dick swing right before his eyes. Common enough sight in a men's locker room, sure, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless. I hope I offended him. I'm bad. LOL.

It bewilders me how some people find locker room nudity so offensive they had to take matters into their own hands. Granted if there was a loiterer roaming in the nude then that could be a problem but if most people are just there minding their own business then I see no reason to be offended. It's the locker room; men go in there to get naked, shower, change, and leave.
Luckily, while most men at my gym are modest and cover up most of the time, I've never been told off for not covering up as much as they do.

I've read several prudish locker room etiquette articles. I remember one that criticized guys who put on a shirt first while leaving the lower body naked, which is exactly how I tend to get dressed. If it's after work, I'll usually start getting dressed by putting on my dress shirt, without the undershirt (which I may have used for the work-out, anyway). This gives the lower areas a little more time to air dry while I pack up my bag, etc. The shirt tails mostly cover my dick, but it will sometimes flap between the gap as I move around. I can't see how this can be considered indecent in a locker room.

I don't see it as indecent.
At the gym where I work out, I've seen guys shave while nude. Obviously they're nude for even longer than guys who walk from the shower to a locker while nude. I haven't heard anyone complain.
I am old with a bad back. Trust me, if they saw me naked, it would burn out their retinas.
