They’re never going to let him keep all that body hair for the movie unless there are scenes where he’s stuck in between being a wolf and a human for some reason.
I remember Tyler Hoechlin once joked about how they all had to keep shaving their chest, which is a bit absurd considering werewolves are supposed to be hairy.

He said something like "more like nare-wolves"

I think Colton called them nare-wolves first. But I agree. The werewolves were so hairless. It would’ve been nice if they could change into actual wolves but I guess budgeting and all

Tyler's character did go full wolf on the show.
If you're talking the hybrid classic human\wolf thing? Then, I think it was less a budget reason and more that they wanted to sell the homoerotic image of the greek god body type hence why they kept them hairless.
I don't think it had to do with the budget.

The Kenema and The Beast were the only hybrids they did because they wanted it to be a "mystery" as for who they were.
