Hi,

For 5 years I have this bad habit of always trying to induce throw up when I know that I have eaten too much, especially when the food is unhealthy. Many times I do this so I can eat more, because I really enjoy food, so in the end I still end up eating and getting all the nutrients, etc. If I eat a large healthy meal, like a huge salad or lots of fish, I will not induce throw up, but if I eat McD, I will try to throw up half of it. During buffets, I usually eat 4 rounds because I throw up the first 3; it's a messed up way of tasting everything. When I do throw up, it's usually only a minute after eating. After that I normally eat again and don't throw up.

1. Why are none of the bulemic side affects present? I have perfect teeth, gums, iron count, hair, no acid reflux issues, etc? Is this because I throw up immeadiately after eating, thus preventing the acid from mixing with the food when it goes back up?

2. Is this even bulimia? I can easily control when I throw up or not. I do it out of pure gluttony because I want to savor as much as possible and not gain weight. For unhealthy foods, I want to savor and taste it without it actually causing me to gain weight. It's a choice, and not a "must do" kind of thing at all. Plus, in the end I eat and just keep it in; not a common pattern. Also, my weight is not fluctuating.

Thanks for any help and advice. Please be as honest as possible.

Just off the top of my head, I'd say bulemia is bulemia and if you think you don't have it, you're in denial. But I'm no expert.

If you want to ask people who really know, ask on an eating disorders site.

I would say that this isn't bulemia... And the reason why you're not fluctuating in weight is because as you say - you're eating normally once youve chucked up.
Doesn't sound particularly normal to me though and as you've said you have the choice, I'd choose to stop... Because being sick frequently WILL be damaging your teeth whether you can see it or not.
Can't you just fight the urge to try EVERYTHING on the buffet? Or just have a much smaller portion of each thing?

You should really consider consulting a physician. What you are doing is potentially dangerous and most people on here have opinions but are probably not trained or qualified to help you. You are obviously concerned, one quick visit to a doctor might alleviate your concerns.
