Educational Attainment

inquiringmind: HI Magnificent one,

You have such a gracious and diplomatic way of putting things! Are you sure you are not some terribly dashing foreign attache lurking on the line? I hope no one who has truly gone through the rigors of reaching the "Olympus of Education" and attained a Ph.D., took offense at my comments. I truly respect your ability and tenacity. I guess I have become somewhat "burned out" by being in a setting which is something akin to a think tank ( a well known educational and research institution) and having watched individuals cannibalize one another over a few meager scraps of recognition year after year. This degree should be used to help further the desemination of knowledge not be viewed as a trophy or a weapon to use against others. If you are feeling the need to go back, there are a number of really wonderful programs out there now which can help you create your own course of study. It is never too late. We need more kind and truly gifted individuals out in the world slaying dragons!

bblumbee: I have 3 BA's (Criminology, Sociology, and Pre-Law) all earn within 5 years. I also have a Master's in Public Administration and 1 year of Law School. I considered going back to Law School but have become disenchanted with the legal system and the problematic injustices it shares...

I am presently taking courses in Psychology and will determine if I am intersted in persuing a Ph.D. in that field. My research field is social justice and I have completed a lot of research on generational trauma, anger and cultural invasion and how it affects developmental growth among the American Indian population. It is quite interesting...

However, to make another point, edcuational attainment, or lack thereof, does NOT truly encompass one's abilities. Many individuals walk around with a Ph.D and are more ignorant to 'life' than those who do not possess any degree's or even a high school diploma.

As far as the correlation between penis size and eduacational attainment... hmmm... I suppose I would be hung then, correct? LOL :D

(Could not resist... sorry).

longtimelurker: I'd say that this is probably a tad biased, as the more educated are more likely to have internet access and this site will have larger members.

For the record though, got a Masters and working towards a PhD.

GreenEyes: Is it truly important that I divulge my educational experience. I mean if I do you all might think differently of me. :p

nsh001: You missed out:
  • GCSE / O-level
  • AS level
  • Scottish/Irish Highers
  • A-level
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Bachelor's degree plus professional qualification
  • (ditto for other degrees)

I have a BA in Mathematics (with Economics) from one of the best English universities, plus a professional qualification (AIA).

Not sure how comparable degrees are internationally. For example, in our maths undegraduate course, most of our textbooks were American, but after the first year of our course were all written for US postgraduate degree work.

Oh, and I don't think there is any correlation between educational attainment and penis length.

ORCABOMBER: Well, to summarise, I'm currently reading a degree in Genetics and Microbiology (okay, don't think Germ Warfare! ;D )

I got booted out of my other course at a different university, my fault, I wont complain. I do feel I have learnt something and I feel I am now in a better university. Also, because I am older and wiser (21 years old), it does mean that I get along with people a lot better, like a fontain of 'he might know the answer if I ask nice' wisdom.

So coming to the stage of emotional intelligance versus academic. I'm not an academic. I can quote information like any other guy. My skill is to interpretate it in unique ways.

I did a bot of research and tracked my online progress in a discussion board for a couple of years.

If I was my dad, I'd be proud of myself.

Inwood: Intelligence and penis size. There's a question for the ages.

Well I don't know if there is that correlation but there was a study done on sexual habits depending on your educational level. Apparently, on average, eggheads do it a lot less :-[ and the less educationally inspired hump like bunnies ;D.

As to MY education, I have a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Master of Media Studies under my belt. And quite frankly if I had just taken all the money it cost to get these degrees and bought Microsoft stock I would probably be a zillionaire instead of in hock to my eyeballs. Ahh the pleasure of wisdom gained. :D

inquiringmind: Hi Inwood,
I guess that means all the blood is rushing to the big head instead of the little one, Huh? Oh well, but then intelligence does count for a lot ,too. Look at all the fun we have in this group...

ORCABOMBER: Hey Inwood, I have no regrets, but being a student in debt is a national tradition in England! ;D

InquiringMind, I couldn't agree more. Aren't you glad we've got such big...brains?
