RealClearPolitics - A New Push to Play God from Washington

Dr Sowell hits it... all net, too.

Just as magicians know that the secret of some of their tricks is to distract the audience, so politicians know that the secret of many political tricks is to distract the public with scapegoats.

RealClearPolitics - Deception is at the Heart of Dems' Plans

Why does it take more than 1,000 pages of legislation to insure people who lack medical insurance? Despite incessant repetition of the fact that millions of Americans do not have medical insurance, hardy souls who have actually read the mammoth medical care legislation being rushed through Congress have discovered all sorts of things there that have nothing whatever to do with insuring the uninsured-- and everything to do with taking medical decisions out of the hands of doctors and their patients, and transferring those decisions to Washington bureaucrats.
That's called "bait and switch" when an unscrupulous business advertises one thing and tries to sell you something else.

"Bait and Switch" "Deception" "Distraction" Yah.

Conservatives sure don't seem to resent having been being baited and switched and deceived and rushed into Iraq.

But now they bitterly resent the health care legislation being "rushed" through Congress, though the health care mess has been generations in the making.

There you go. When in doubt, change the subject.

How would a U.S. Senator, for example, benefit by taking medical decisions out of the hands of doctors and their patients? Are they getting illegal kickbacks? Do they own large interests in insurance companies? Do they just get off on the power? What is their motivation?

The fact is, medical decisions will still be made by medical practitioners. The only difference will be what is covered and what isn't. This "bait 'n switch" argument is an epic fail.

As usual, you fear mongers are intentionally vague: why not specify exactly what the government is trying to switch the bait for? I don't think that you know what the hell you are talking about.

Since you are terrified of change, maybe you'll be the first in line to get your free xanax and psychotherapy.

I think Dr Sowell is referring to broader policy and whom it benefits, and the DC power grab (nee big gov't). The "economic stimulus" didn't do squat, and we knew/saw how un-shovel ready all that crap was, this will turn out to be much the same. Course they got cockblocked trying to rush this in... amazing how everything is such a rush... nationalized health care (and let's stop calling it "reform"... reform to me equals policies and oversight... this will be funded by taxpayers with already good healthcare).... anyways, this is a VERY big decision, why does Obama/Pelosi need to rush this within weeks when most of the Democrats who are voting in line haven't and (AMAZINGLY won't) even read the bill...
