So I am considering either having electrolysis or laser treatment done to the thick coarse hair my lower back, has anyone had these treatments, if so are they worth it? I know its a lot of money and a lot of time, but I really think, in the long run, I'll be happier and richer for it.
From my understanding electrolysis is the only certifiably 'permanent' form of hair reduction...is this true? Laser technology seems to be advancing every day so might also be able to achieve truly permanent results too by now.

Any experiences would be much appreciated, thanks.

I had six rounds of laser on my back ang got rid of about 75% of my back hair. Couldn't stand to undergo anymore treatments but I am happy with my results. My wife shaves my back about once a month and that suffices for me.

Do it-It's worth it in the long run. I did it, and it is so nice not worrying about any hair on back/shoulders etc. The first treatment is painful, but after that, the pain is less and less. Ask for them to put on a numbing gel on your back first, to help lessen the pain.

A few friends had it done. One had rather coarse hair on his upper and lower back, and said that it made it easier for the tech to find the follicles, but that it required more return visits. And yeah, they all said it hurt. Still it sounded like ripping the band-aid off; lots of pain in a short period of time versus a long period of antsiness and lesser pain (in this case, a lifetime of waxing, Nairing, shaving, etc.)

I do wonder, though, if anyone but you has commented on the attractiveness of the hair you want to remove? I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but I know of plenty of really hot guys who have hair on their backs or shoulders.

I started the laser hair removal on my back the beginning of this summer. It is a little warm but no pain at all. I purchased it thru one of the bargin deal websites. I got 6 treatments for $229.00. Can't beat that! I should have done it years ago.

multiple waxings are the best way for totally permanent and cost effective removal.
the hairs need to be pulled out with the root intact or lasered to destroy the roots.
just getting rid of the surface hair does not prevent grow back.
laser works best on dark hair cause they absorb more of the light.

definitely worth it; had my underarms, chest, abd, pubes, balls and anus done; rarely have to shave at all, just quick touch ups. Went to a great place in Boston
just remember the quality and character of the hair has to be right: laser works best on thick, dark hairs... not so much on finer or esp lighter colored hairs
