I don't know-

First- wood is porous... I would have to know how they seal them...

Second- Some woods are toxic, such a Padauk, the oils from which most people are hellishly allergic to... same issue with sealing... ( I have actually made stuff from padauk and the sawdust will cause blisters on the skin )

Third- one word
splinters.

There really are no latex and silicone toys...

Well , there are SOME silicone toys... but they are very rare and very expensive.

Latex is not used for toys because a significant percentage of people will have a fatal allergic reaction if they shoved something made of latex up their wazoo.

The toys available are predominantly made of VINYL.

An elastomeric vinyl that is mixed with vegetable oil or mineral oil to make it softer and squishier.
This stuff is really never fully cured, because of the oil content, and what worries me about vinyl toys is the chemicals they give off.

Vinyl chloride is one of the most carcinogenic chemicals known.
I just would not want to wear a vinyl butt plug all day...

Wood is far more inert- as long as the pores are sealed and it doesn't snap.

And its not the kinds of wood that cause allergic reactions...
