I watched a procedure done by a Jewish Rabbi (I forget the actual name of the person who does circumcisions), and it was horrific. If there was any question before I saw what it really WAS, that did it for me. I'd encourage any pregnant mother to watch a few circumcisions before she decides to do that to her child. Anyone who doesn't think it's barbaric probably hasn't seen it with their own eyes. It's disgusting.
I have been to a number of Bris Milah ceremonies....well in fairness only 3 My brother married a Jewish woman and through some freakish moment of showing his love for her he had a circumcision He did this in a hospital setting but the basic ritual was followed (yeah it makes me feel nauseous too and I'm gay and shouldnt mind men holding other men Lucky for all of us it was not completed with the sucking of the blood from the wound) When I say basic, I mean precisely that some words are said and an old Jewish man goes and does the snipping Here too I was fortunate I was not present, my brother had himself a Mohel (spelling may be wrong) a Rabbi and another man from the synagogue of the family he was marrying into.
I have some nephews and they each had the circumcision and I can hopefully ease your mind that they have no recollection of it and see,m well adjustted Two seem to be heterosexual one is out and out gay and since the same persons were involved in all these rites I cannot attribute sexuality as being affected (no you did not say it was I just wanted to nip that debate in the bud as well before some ignorant person starts it)
So what was my point? It is not BARBARIC or DISGUSTING as you claim. It was a beautiful ceremony done with reflection on the past and done as a tribute and comittment to God As for a baby crying and screaming through it babies are known to cry and scream and that is most of what they do at that age and when placed in the hands of a stranger such as the Mohel they are likely to cry They would also cry kick and scream if taken from the arms of their mother or father and placed in the hands of any other person
Rest assured though that soon after they are giggling and smiling again and are happy
