Well, if we must get technical, no, not the urethra itself, but that part of the penis through which it passes. DOH!!

And yes, it is more pronounced in some erections than in others. (Jeeze!)

its not being technical.....its about being right. Why would you want incorrect information?

Well, if we must get technical, no, not the urethra itself, but that part of the penis through which it passes. DOH!!

And yes, it is more pronounced in some erections than in others. (Jeeze!)

Let's say I was tired of Joe Fatanyatz passing off guesses and suppositions as real information. I could wrap my hands around his carotid arteries and squeeze until he stopped breathing and passed out, momentarily silencing him.

Oh, wait. I can't. I can only wrap my hands around the part of his body they pass through. And if I could isolate his carotid arteries and squeeze them, his diastolic blood pressure would drop below 60 almost immediately. He would enter shock, and in a surprisingly swift amount of time, he'd die. Quite a difference.

The part that becomes more pronounced during erection, the part that is visible on the underside of a penis is called (say it with me class) the corpus spongiosum. You can't use it to urinate. That's not it's job. It isn't remotely similar to the urethra. It isn't made from the same type of tissue. When you look at a dissection of a fresh body (as opposed to a preserved one) they aren't even exactly the same color.

How come some people can't just say they're wrong. Or at least not try to justify passing out bad info. It would be one thing if we were discussing opinions. But this is cold science!

love the reference dude. I wont point out that compressing the carotids would actually transiently increase diastolic bc there would be more blood in the heart since you are blocking some of its output. Now if you compressed the jugulars its a whole other story ;)

just playin.....

you are absolutely right. People can be wrong and then argue with you. Then they insult you because you correct them. There are still guys who think a girl urinates from inside her vagina

There are still guys who think taking a pill will increase their size or semen load

There are still guys who claim to fuck the actual cervix

I think the average Joe probably knew what I was saying (and I certainly knew what I meant) but thank you "forum police" for catching my slip-ups and for correcting poor ol' ignorant me.

(Sure, you ignore apostrophes in contractions, and leave off an occasional period. But who's perfect? Right??)

Besides, what the frak would I ever do without ya?:biglaugh:

You don't really think the average Joe understood that by urethra you meant corpus spongiosum. Look. You're sounding sloppier and sloppier with each ridiculous excuse. Next time, keep your eyes open for the real answer or do some research. I just watched a dissection of a preserved male pelvis last week, complete with lecture. But I still wanted to make sure I was correct since this thread is not editorial. Do you know how long it took me to check my facts? Four minutes. Four. When you don't know an answer and it isn't an editorial post, STFU, KTHNX!

Is that true, or is that what you're just playin' about? It's off topic here, so feel free to send me a private message with the answer.

Are you a doctor? I'm not a doc. I'm just "bright and curious" someone recently told me. LOL

For those who ask, I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be, a medical doctor. That still does not mean that I cannot have a clear knowledge of some human anatomy and physiology. No, I have not taken gross anatomy (I wanted to, but it was not required for my major, and was limited to pre-med and physical therapy students). I do have several anatomy texts, and when I am curious about something, I actually look it up.

b. c., we were not beating up on you, but please understand, the OP asked a technical anatomical question. Some of us tried to answer as clearly and correctly as possible. When we see errors, we try to clear those up, too. It was not a personal attack on you, it was simply an attempt to get the information to the OP as correctly as possible.

If someone on this forum asks a question, and I know the answer, I will answer. If I don't know, I will either not post or I will say "I don't know." If I answer, and someone corrects me, I will double check my facts, and depending upon what I find, I will either admit my error or ask my challenger to re-check his facts. It's not something to get defensive or combative about, it's simply a matter of trying to avoid passing on misinformation.

does it matter what it's called?

every wang is different.
one of the things a partner grows to love is the uniqueness of your cock.

as long as it's healthy and functional, does one ridge really matter?

...while we're on the topic though...my clit is asymmetrical...i may post pics.

yeh it really does.....ya know if you ever need surgery, i would rather have a surgeon hwo knows the names of every structure as opposed to one who just knows it as some "thingie".....those would be the surgeons who at the end of surgery give you a little baggie with the extra parts

I don't think Dolfette is going to loose much sleep over the prospect of surgery on her penis.

youre right.....i was referring to anatomy in general. There are many structures in the body much smaller than part of the penis.....not to mention spaces and even potential spaces.....anatomy was a nightmare

Let's not have confusion. When questions are a matter of fact, and not opinion, let's do research, right?

It is not exactly the urethra, though the urethra is in fact in the vicinity. Wonder what the urethra is surrounded by? You guessed it: corpus spongiosum. The corpus spongiosum is not responsible for erections. That is the job of the corpus cavernosum. The corpus spongiosum, often plainly visable from the ventral side of the penis, at the glans is there to protect the urethra.

Have a diagram.

Have an explantion.

Have another.
Excellent answer! Covers it all!

dolfette, in general, no, it does not matter what it's called. But the original poster ASKED QUESTIONS. When someone asks, it is important that they get the correct answer, especially on a support group website.

Indiscriminately using the terminology CAN lead to confusion. Confusing the corona with the meatus, or confusing the corpus spongiosum with the urethra is about the same as confusing the cervix with the uterus, or confusing the clitoris with the labia or the vagina.

If you never talk about "that sort of rounded ridge that runs along the underside of my erect cock", then it doesn't matter. If you ask someone a question about it, it does matter.

If you go to your doctor, and tell him you keep having a recurring pain on your cervix, but what you really mean is your urethra, do you think he will diagnose you correctly?

I will say again, it is really very important to know (at least) the basics of your own anatomy. It's also a good thing to know the basics of the anatomy of your sex partners, whether same or different gender.

no this thread was asking a question to expand someone's knowledge.....therefore a correct answer is appropriate. Just because you dont care about something does not mean that someone is the same. If you went to your gynecologist and asked a question you would expect a correct answer. Would you want your gyn to say "ah dont worry about it, who really cares what the fallopian tube is anyways"
