There's no such thing as 'normal', but for women to get off on erotica is very common, and it's not uncommon for men as well. I certainly get off on written erotica, and even with my published novels there is always a well-written sex scene or two to add an extra something (although I have many arguments with my editor over this aspect of my writing).

Just for fun I wrote an 70,000 word erotic novel set in Paris in the 1920s, average book-sized. I quite like it, and each of the sex scenes has a different tinge (the opium den, the voyeur room at a brothel, the Paris metro, the swimming pool at the villa, the beach in the south of France). I haven't quite worked out what to do with it, however. One of these days...
