Escort vs. Prostitute

Always thought about it, but I think it falls on that whole grey line. You technically not paying for sex with an escort, but rather their time to be with you. And if sex happens, than it is 2 consenting adults. Still seems kinda if'fy.

A couple of years ago an escort service in the town I work in was charged with running a prostitution ring. It was pretty clear the "escort" service was just a front for high end prostitution.

What PC bullshit!! Escorts are paid eye and sex candy! They and their customers try to put different spins on it to dress it up, but that's IT! (both gay and hetero, btw)...but what's wrong with the basic idea of prostitution anyway? Just another form of therapy.

I agree, why can't people be in control of their own bodies? If someone wants to use their body to make money so be it. Who should put laws on something like that?

Some busy body bitches went and made it illegal a very long time ago. It should be struck down just like all the rest of the sex laws that oppress consensual adults.

Actually an Escort is supposed to be a hired date to accompany you. Not show up and get busy.lol That's actually prostitution.
I think the amount of diseases would go down because the prostitutes could require the guys to be tested and visa versa.

I wouldn't mind finding an escort like mcsizzlesizzle

i think that prostitutes work the streets and corners getting picked up for sex....where as escorts are normally booked by appointment and sex doesnt always necessary have to take place....but still consider escorts higher class hookers myself.

never ever used either but if someone wants to pay me then ill consider it.

Slightly OT but in answer to the 'why is prostitution illegal anyway' comments:

Prostitution is morally dubious. Certainly, in many cases, there are women (and men of course) who are comfortable with idea of someone fucking them and they get money and that's that. However, that is not the same thing as consensual sex. In consensual sex both (all) parties want to have the sexual experience and enjoy it, at least partly, on a sexual level. In the relationship between the paid sex worker and the client the paid sex worker is contractually obliging her/himself to have a sexual experience whether or not there is any enjoyment on a sexual level. One can certainly argue that that is the individual's prerogative but it so clearly leads to self esteem issues, abuses of obligation and can exacerbate, if not actually cause, mental health issues in some.

In theory, it is arguable that it is the social stigma that is part of the problem and if that were removed sex workers might not have as many issues with their 'chosen' profession. However I don't believe that to be true of the vast majority of sex workers. It certainly is false for 100% of the sex workers I have personally known. I am not saying, please note, that you have to be disturbed to be a sex worker - but many people come out of a sex profession with a bundle of baggage to deal with.

To answer an earlier point about regulation; the prostitution in Amsterdam is regulated (well, most of the hetro prostitution anyway) and yes, they have screening programs and the workers pay taxes and have a certain level of security - is it better that way? I really don't know. A disproportionate number of the women there these days seem to come from Eastern European and Africa (as is the case with the illegal industry in my home country, here and elsewhere) and that concerns me as to how free the choice these women* are making actually is.

As for escort v prostitute - I have only one thing to say: A rose by any other name...

* I know a lot less about male prostitution in this circumstance, hance my switching to the hetro only - rather than make sweeping statements that do not apply.

Escort vs Prostitute
What's the difference? Have any of you been one or (for lack of better word) used one?

Dude

Its the same shit, the same people, at the same rates - its just different terms

At the end of the day its all about "companionship" and/or sex for sale and its all about the money

(Can anyone tell me if you can get higher rates from using the word Escort just so that I can change the wording on my calling cards... only kidding)

:biggrin1:

Doth not a rose by any other name smell just as sweet?

A true escort is different, but a true escort won't go for sex.

If you are talking about the garden variety escort, there is no difference.

A ho is a ho, price may vary between the two and one maybe cleaner and more fashionable, but when the clothes come off, no difference whatsoever.

there was a show (based on a book, based on a true story) called Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

The call girl in question was always very professional, and clean, and respectable, and she goes on dates, or just has sex in her expensive flat. If I think about a prostitute I always think about a scratty woman with a loose tooth and a dirty disposition that does things for a fiver and gives you syphilis.

To me, that is the difference. I may one day be desperate enough to consider an escort but I'd have to be REALLY desperate to go for a prostitute.
