Looks like you fell for a metaphor: I am talking about a commercial transaction involving a prostitute, for which the term 'escort' is substituted to make the purchaser buying sexual gratification feel somehow better about what (s)he's doing in buying the sexual use of another's body.
And don't anyone make the case that engaging an escort/prostitute could be paying only for companionship and conversation.

Further, there really are people lonely enough to want company as much (if not more) as sex from a prostitute.

I'm not that desperate for the sex or variety of the whole escort thing. I am unwilling to part with the money, too. I would also be concerned about my safety in the whole situation.

Every so often, there will be a police report in the news about an escort who didn't want sex and a client who caused a major hullabaloo because he didn't understand the same thing you don't understand.
That difference is why escorts are legal in many places that do not allow prostitution.

Something that happens 'every so often' really weakens the point you're trying to make-- the takeaway from your argument is that for the most part, escorts are prostitutes. Not that there's anything wrong with prostitutes.
Every so often it makes the news because some idiot reacted badly. I honestly have no idea how common sex with escorts is.

If I do understand that escort is generally used to mean what is called in judgment-neutral parlance a 'sex worker', I would be interested to learn how many LPSGers have paid/currently pay for sex (and I don't mean ironically--I mean paid with money) and what part it played or plays in their lives.
When and where I grew up, it was a rite of passage for a young man to visit a bordello/brothel/whorehouse, and for some, it was an introduction to sex with a partner. The father of a friend of mine gave him fifty dollars on his 18th birthday and told him where he might go to spend it (and he did).
Then, as I studied Greek and Latin and learned about the hetairai of Greece and the meretrices of Rome, I began to understand that prostitution had been socially acceptable in these cultures--and in many others-- and that some in this profession were/are amazing people. Certainly in the settlement of the West in the US, prostitution is interesting to study as well.
I don't know if this is the right thread for such a discussion, but I think it might be interesting to pursue.

Frankly, I think some cultures accept the idea of a man losing his virginity to a prostitute either because they see virginity as desirable for women, but undesirable for men, or because they think men are a bunch of slobbering sex monsters who can't control our urges.

There are only a tiny number of places in the world where prostitutes aren't treated badly. Even in those places, prostitutes are often treated badly by society just for being prostitutes.
If you can't judge someone when they are causing or enabling harm to others, when can you judge people?
If we could get rid of certain religious attitudes from society, and if we could make sure that workplace safety laws protected prostitutes, then I am not sure I would have a problem with the practice of prostitution in and of itself, but we don't live in a world like that.
