I am actually guilty of this one I am afraid. Wasn't into anything really heavy in terms of relationship or friendship with anyone online. But had a profile and then met the most amazing man, I immediately cancelled my profile without a word to anyone, I was just so in love at the time that the thought of anyone else ceased to exist. When you meet someone online you have no idea of the other factors that are going on in their lives... Had one guy who I had shagged a couple of times and really liked dissapear on me only to find out a couple of months later when he came back online that he had been in a coma!!

maybe they got busted by their "real" lover, or had someone come back into their lives, or met someone new..., either way FUCK THEM !!! it just goes to show if they do that to you now, imagine how bad it would be if you started a physical relationship, and THEN it happen...,. consider yourself LUCKY !!! there are PLENTY of fish in the sea...,

Yeah that happened to me. Once the guy told me he couldn't handle talk to me anymore and blocked me off everything...

And then I've been fucked over a few times by people whom I thought were genuine. It's hard a first, but treat it sort of like a breakup, take time to grieve, because even if that was a fake persona you were still speaking with someone. It wasn't a computer talking to you, and you probably had some influence in their life.

*hugs* if you hurt still.

But should you have had some influence in their life ?.

I met my wife online over seven years ago.

Never had an online relationship where the person just disappeared, never just disappeared on someone else. That's just not who I am.

I've met some really cool guys on line and have several pen pals. One guy close to my age travelled west from the east coast last summer and we spent a day together. We have a lot in common, and I could be very interested in him. He just broke up with his ex of many years in November, so he'll need space for a while before he gets involved again. We e-mail eachother often and phone occasionally. We can only see what the future brings. If he just disappeared without a word, I'd be very sad, yet that's the risk we take when we meet someone online versus at school or at work.
