Ever want to be a porn star?

Have any of you ever seriously considdered a career in porn? I remember a time in my early twenties when I wasn't in a relationship, just hooking up with whomever, and really thought seriously about doing porn. I mean I was seriously insatiable back then (now, I think I'm in control of my libido), and, with a few exceptions, at least as well hung as most of the guys I saw in porn. I was just out of college, broke, and thought what the heck after an appreciative young lady told me I should do porn. It made me think "what the heck." I almost packed my bags to move out to the beautiful San Fernando Valley until my best friend gave me a reality check and made me think about how it would affect my family. But I did come really close to giving it a try.

Given that many of you have probably been told that you could have a career in the industry, and are equipt to do so, who else has come close to giving porn a try as a living? Better yet, who has actually tried a stint at it?

Just curious.

haven't considered it. not sure "above average" really qualifies... i've heard size isn't the only thing that is desired in a male porn star... control is a big one right... and also i've heard it's hard to do straight porn as a guy and get paid unless you're a big name... and to become a big name male porn star you have to do gay porn first. which i would never do.

it doesnt seem like its worth it to me. there's a lot of mental damage suffered by the performers, and the money isn't enough to make up for that unless you become a huge pornstar. add that to all the blood testing and std testing (imagine if you hate getting shots at the doctor - good luck).

the girls are pretty, but i'd much rather give a girl a real orgasm and keep sex as meaningful as possible.

Good luck with your career if you choose to go that way with your life.

No doubt that would have been the dumbest move of my life, but I do remember that point in my life. I'm glad I went in a different, less dysfunctional direction, instead. I just posted this question because I recently ran a thread about seeing somebody who you knew doing porn, and it made me think about myself and not choosing to do it.

Plus, I was flattered that any one wanted to watch. So I finally decided what the heck and put out this last April. I even get fanmail so all in all it was an interesting experience , but not as much fun as it looks on tape

I'm still considering it. I think I would enjoy it and be prepared for the mental tribulation. I doubt I would turn it into a career, if it got rough I'd drop it; there's lots of other things I want to do in my life still. My wife actually is the one that has brought it up and encouraged me. Obviously doesn't have a problem with me having sex with pornstars lol.

I agree that starting a porn 'career' will limit your choices later on. I am friends with several in the business. One friend did it as a stand along career for about 10 years with about 50 film credits. After he 'retired' he had challenges explaining that work on his resume and to answer what he did for a living when he had to start using his brain for money instead.

It's much more likely that you could have it as a fun sideline that occassionally puts an extra few hundred dollars in your pocket. But you need to be secure in your regular job and know that you may have to deal with uncomfortable conversations about your sideline to friends and possibly co-workers.

I started my escapades in porn at age 44. I had already ended my primary career and had a clear head about what I would and would not get from the business. The pay is miniscule - you do it for the enjoyment and to let your exhibitionist side out. But you have to be able to cope with having porn be part of your identity. Your friends will stumble across you as they view porn, and you will sometimes have people come up to you and say that they know you from somewhere but can't quite recall where.

I make a video maybe once a month, but I have total control where they are shown, never on the internet, or in my own country!

So for me it's a weekend away with a couple of guys, oh and I dictate what the scenes will be....I don't want to be ragged.

So it can be a lot of fun as long as you set the limits and boundaries, if no production company is interested, then do it yourself, set up your own website etc etc.

Just remember that porn does not pay, it gives you extra money, bit of fun, and great sex, if it is done right.

No I never considered it. When I was young enough to have been a success; it was considered sleazy.
Any other random thoughts on the matter evaporated when I was with a friend who used to work as a makeup artist for some porn films. It's without a doubt the most unsexy process watching it filmed and some of the meanest dumbest people on the planet were involved in the project.

I did porn for a few years when I was in my late 20s. It was a nice little sideline to my day job and the money was good. I can't claim to have reached star status, but I've done film and photographic work.
The money was pretty good - £50 for a one-hour private photo session and about £300 for a film scene and various rates for magazine shoots. The photo sessions were more fun. You can't beat getting paid to watch porn and have a wank. Talk about money for old rope! The magazine and film shoots aren't as much fun. You get paid more, but you end up standing around a lot while they change the lighting - or worse, having to stop mid-stroke so they can change change camera angle on some of the lower-budget sets.
I enjoyed it and met some interesting people in the process, although there are a few who I wouldn't miss if I never saw them again.

At the end of the day though, it's not a job for everyone and I'd advise anyone who's considering going into it to think very carefully about the potential consequences of people, especially family, finding out about what you do to get your money. Not to put too fine a point on it, it's whoring. OK, you're not selling your body on a street corner and the people you're having sex with are usually better looking, but you're still being paid for sexual services, and that's a problem for many parents, grandparents, partners and so on.

I considered it when I was a few years younger. I was just out of the military and was in better shape than I am now - still had the six-pack, etc. I even discussed it briefly with a friend. I have done porn. I did it when I was 31 (am 35 now.) I enjoyed doing the solos but did not enjoy the 1 full movie I did. I got $1000 for the movie, $500 per solo, then with a different studio got $250, then I stopped. What people don't know is that, that 15 minute scene takes about 6-10 hours to shoot and its not too fun! I did it to fulfill a fantasy... I always said if I ever got asked I would do it and one day it happened, so I thought why not. It has not had any negative impact on my career (and I work for the US Gov.) but it has been negative on dating relationships. I am open and honest about it. In retrospect, it would have been better left as a fantasy but I did it and don't have to wonder. I don't plan to do it again. I recommend go onto some CAM sites and start doing some shows, see what people think of you and see if you enjoy it. Porn is almost all internet based now. I think everyone on this site with posted pics is essentially doing porn. Putting sexual imagery up online is in fact porn... so you are almost there... why not go all the way if you want to!
