I'm an Obama supporter but I agree that people should not be called racists just because they disagree with Obama.

However I agree with the thread premise. Both parties are lying when they claim they are going to address the deficit/debt.

Paul Ryan's new plan doesn't balance the budget for another 30 years.

Which proves one thing the Republicans could care less about the deficit. Their goal is to drown government until it is dead dead dead. The only part they want to survive is the Defense Department and the Justice Department since we need those to protect the wealthy.

Not drown, starve. The Republican tactic that have been prevalent for the last couple decades has been "Starving the Beast". For those that don't know what the term means, this is basically attempting to remove a stable but undesirable program by creating an instability which will allow removal of the program as a possible solution. It boils down to keeping tax revenues as low as possible and spending high so that budget cuts are necessary, then propose cutting the program you don't like to free up money.

Essentially, Republicans want to avoid the situation they were in at the end of the Clinton presidency. He had successfully passed much of his scary liberal agenda, and we simultaneously had a budget surplus and the lowest tax rates in the first world. Yes, you heard me, even before the Bush tax cuts, our taxes were already lower than any other first world country's. Look at that, Obama wanted to get a healthcare reform bill that would benefit millions, but would need a little bit of money, and what was the first thing the Republicans did? Filibustered the hell out of everything until it was voted to extend the Bush era tax cuts.

Bottom line: if we weren't still fighting in Afghanistan (thank you Bush administration military incompetence) and we ended the Bush era tax cuts, "Obamacare" would be bought and paid for. And we'd still have a surplus. And we'd still have the lowest taxes in the first world.

Well the thing is, his plan could actually balance the budget if it didn't include MORE tax cuts for the rich, lol. That seems to be the main thing they care about.

They are the job creators, never mind they're not doing much to hire these days even if corporate profits have never been higher, so we should bless them with all society has to offer. If we cut health programs for the old and the poor so what?
