Honestly, Ezra belongs behind bars, and when they get out they belong in rehab and belong to a therapist office for some time. I try to sympathize with obvious traumas, mental health struggles, substance abuse and perhaps dealing with fluidity, contradictions, gay resentments, queer insecurities, not being able to grasp where they are in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. But at this point, it just reads like white, rich, pretty boy, male privilege. It also kinda reads as “straight privilege”, because any gay-presenting male public figure would have been cancelled/jailed a while ago for some of the silly shit Ezra has said and for assaulting random women on multiple occasions.

Beyond ezra’s ambivalent queer identity & usage of neopronouns, they are still socialized as a cis white man including all the access & privilege that has, using their privilege to harm others, esp women. This is one of the evolutions we need to start making when it comes to the general queer conversation. Embracing a queer identity or having sex/relationships with whoever doesn’t suddenly absolve homophobia, trans-phobia, gay panic, toxic masculinity, misogyny, misandry, self-misogyny, self-misandry, queer insecurities, violent instincts, substance dependence. Nor does it mean that you still don’t benefit from stuff like beauty and sex appeal, white, cis, masculine, hetero privileges, being non “gay presenting” privileges and appearing into chicks privilege. Embracing a them/they identity, claiming that you’re kinda into dudes but being vague about it and not having any known gay relationship, wearing makeup and a dress on the red carpet- this stuff does not get rid of those privileges or absolve those feelings or eradicate mental health issues.

Miller, who identifies as they/them, was subsequently arrested at 1:30 a.m. for Assault in the second degree after being located on the roadway during a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 130 and Kukula Street in Kea‘au.
After conferring with the County Prosecutor’s Office, at 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday morning Miller was released pending further investigation. This is an active investigation.
