Putting your face as your avatar:

Would you? Could you? Should you?

I'm tempted but I don't want any of those 'banished ones' finding me. Although they probably have already. I say they, there's only two I'm worried about.

So how do y'all feel. Would you put your face in your avatar? Is it a good idea? Please, discuss

I think it really depends on what you have to hide.

I don't mean that in the bad way, I just mean it in the sense that a person who wants to protect their privact and not risk being discovered by others may want to keep their face out of the veiwing public.

You're not really a wookie? :frown1:

I shouldn't - for several reasons - but I just thought "what the hell" and did it. (That probably doesn't help.)

Hmm I know. I spose I should do what I want now that I have nothing to do with those pplz...but then I do like having this as a nice getaway and the anonymity. And I also like my face lol. But I'll keep it private for now...to many risks and I don't want anyone (I know) to know I post here or even worse to read my posts!

Do people with face pics here (either in avatar or gallery) not worry?

PS I'm not a Wookie...but are they the same as Ewoks? I used to love Ewoks :D

I had one, once upon a memory. It makes some people respond to you with a little more humanity (virtual eye-contact ), while causing others to launch even more bitter ad hominem attacks (enhancement of the virtual face-to-face aggression experience ). So if you want an added emotional frisson, it's the way to go, imho.

I know what it's like to be nervouse about posting a face pic. I just recently posted one in my gallery. I figured chances are my friends will never find this place and if they did they wouldn't be going through the guys pics anyway. If they do find me somehow on here by accident well I guess it won't be too big of a deal.

i go back and forth- but i have posted face pics recently- i just feel the odds of someone i know coming here and seeing my gallery are remote- and if they do, well what the hell- they were here too then! no one i know knows my name here- so not like they are gonna find my pics by googling either.

Yeah and you can say (if its a male friend) - "What are you doing looking at pics of guys if you're not gay?" Hehe.

My main worry is the ex's and perhaps family although that is a longshot. Maybe I'll invert it...they probably won't know how to re-vert it even though its not rocket science.

As I recall Alex, you're not a bad lookin' lad.

EDIT: LOL!!!! I paid a lot of money for those shades...

I don't want to have a face avatar but I do have a gallery pic now. I may take it down because of the other person in the pic (but it's the best photo I have of me!), and just put the really small pic that is just me.

I wanted people here to see what I look like though. I beat myself up over it though, and maybe I wanted reassurance that I'm not that bad after all...

I do know one person here. SensualGoth - I introduced her to this site! Hopefully no one else I know is here - that could be embarrassing! (or maybe it could lead to something interesting...hmmm....)

That was a good point whatireallywant, if someone you know in real life sees your pictures by accident they may like what they see. So a face pic could even be a good thing.

I guess it would be bad if you were a nursery school teacher, cop, polititian, or minister to be recognized here. Why don't you take a picture with real shades? That would be more flattering. It looks a bit ransome note-ish now.

I like face avatars because it is like speaking to a real person even if it is not the real person. People must have a reason why they chose theirs. I kind of resemble Barney Rubble according to some smartass friends, hence my avatar.

Dude, I so did that when I started... you aren't original at all.

*crowns himself the king of paintbrush glasses*:biggrin1:

Lies! Also, to Earl, I don't own any shades. Never have much use for them. I was going to do a paintbrush goatee and other things too...

Maybe a paintbrush cock? No one will ever know the difference :biggrin1:
Having seen some of the photoshop jobs hehe.

I do although I have some reservations about it, I like knowing what other people look like and I don't like to be thought of as just a faceless body. However, the photos I use as my avatar are ones I took with my cam so they're not great quality pics so I hope that at a quick glance people I know wouldn't recognise me from them. When people use cartoons or icons I instantly get that it's not them (duh) but quite often when it's a porn star/actor/singer I don't and I do find that a bit confusing, if you're not going to post your own pic as an avatar I think you should make it clear it's not you - I spent the first four months on here thinking Jeff Black was superman.
