Facebook vs myspace

I don't understand why it is so uncool to have a MySpace account. I needed a way to keep up with friends and family who are not always online. MS also provides me with a way to keep up with the musical artists that I follow.

I also have Facebook. Both are fun for me but I prefer MS.

I still have not bothered that much with Twitter.

myspace has become more commercialized. it's more for bands and such and not even because if you're some unknown artist, noone will care to add you to their personal profile.

Facebook is more personal BUT what I don't like about it is that it's all too interconnected and everyone can read easily what you're saying to anyone else. I guess that's why you should be careful who you add to your friend's list ;)

I have both but never use MS as I just never got into it. I really like FB and use it all the time. I'm a bit of a Mafia Wars and Mousehunt addict

You know that you can hide updates from specific applications or people?

i noticed.

I don't know how you could, but ok. The only time I go on Facebook is when I get a notification that someone's left me a message there, and 99% of the time it's one of my nieces who, love them to death tho' I do, drive me crazy with their inane, twitter-like comings and goings. :biggrin1:

You can adjust your settings to increase privacy. Which is one of the great advantages to FB: Unless someone's your friend, they can't communicate with you or access your info (other than seeing that there is a profile with the name John Doe on FB.)

I definitely prefer FB to MS. MS is, like, so totally yesterday.

well the entire business model for MS and FB is to get as many people hooked up and then monetize the whole thing. same for twitter.

the benevolent social network is just the warm fuzzy distraction for the deadly accurate, segment specific hardcore marketing you'll be experiencing shortly.

and with twitter they even get instant market research/feedback.
