I would say no although Woody Allen married his adoptive daughter so it's probably not illegal.

It's not illegal. I have a niece by marriage who did the Soon-Yi thing with her step-dad. It was creepy, but not illegal, and when she got pregnant the first time her mom went to court to get the birth father's surname for her.

Both those women turned out to have terrible psychological problems and both lost custody of all their children eventually. Both had five kids each, by multiple fathers.

Why is it that the ones who make lousy parents can't seem to comprehend birth control?

No, Allen didn't marry an "adoptive daughter" when he married Soon-Yi-Previn . Mia Farrow had not married Woody Allen, thus Soon-Yi, whom Mia Farrow and her former husband Andre Previn adopted , was not Allen's step-daughter.

I stand corrected. I wonder what got these rumors started.

It may be creepy, but if it's not illegal, I don't see anything wrong with it. If two adults are legally free to marry, then it is their right to have a sexual relationship outside of marriage.

If a step-dad legally adopted his new wife's biological kid though, he obviously could not later legally marry the adoptee.

To fit the legal defintion of incest, don't there have to be blood relations (or a prior adoptive relationship)?

I can not imagine doing my stepbrother or sister, just not right. on the other hand, step dad would be okay with me. I know...it is wrong but I am not perfect.

This happened in my family, my brother met his wife in high school and got married are still married. When me and her younger sister were like 18, we dated for awhile and yeah, we had sex, so? It's not she's blood related, she was just a friend of the family. And for the record, no one in our family gave us crap over it.

Some people have parents that remarry later in life. That usually leaves the child with a step-brother or sister. Keep in mind ther is no blood between you and her/him. Would you go for it or do you find it wrong.

Depending on the jurisdiction this tends not to be covered under incest laws. They typically define incest as sexual relations between blood relations of the immediate family. Incest often gets lumped in with child abuse, and I do not think anyone on this forum that would openly approve of sexual relationships between an adult and minor, no matter if the relationship is between consenting or non-consenting partners.

Of course the Terms of Service for this forum defines incest much more broadly...
incestuous is any relations performing in sexual acts together, regardless of their age or relation to each other (brother/sister/father/mother and so on).

Interestingly there seems to be movement in the laws in the US that would not criminalize incest between consenting adults. Lawrence v. Texas the case that struck down sodomy laws against same sex and opposite sex sodomy may have also opened the door to legalizing incest between consenting adults. The US Supreme court in Lawrence vs Texas held that intimate consensual sexual conduct was part of the liberty protected by substantive due process under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Some argue that if this ruling strikes down sodomy laws it could also be used to eliminate prohibitions against other sexual acts between consenting adults, including incest.

i think that if it is after the fact then it is definitely wrong...at least by American standards...if it's before the fact then i think it's kind of fucked up on the parent's part
