Fakers and Cams

There's been quite a bit of discussion lately about fakers and who's pics are whose. It seems obvious to me that the easiest way to confirm the validity of anyone's pictures and appearance is to go on a webcam. Not a video clip, but live webcam. No faking there.

And I don't buy lines like "I don't have a cam," "I loaned it to my roommate," "it's broken," "it doesn't work with windows," and the old standby, "I'm not alone right now so I can't."

Sure, not everyone is keen about web cams, and I don't expect just anyone to go on cam on a whim, but if someone's serious about defending or their asserting their legitimacy, this seems the most reliable answer, and unwillingness to do it in this situation is a another red flag in my opinion.

You should change your instant messenger name and only give it to people you know and trust. I've had to change my Yahoo name several times for several reasons. You shouldn't be driven off your own instant messenger because of overzealous horny people. I'm sure it does get tiring being prompted to masturbate on cam constantly.

I have gone on cam for the people that I want to cam for. You're right that it's probably the best proof that there is.

The whole fake vs. proof issue is very complex. Some people care, some don't. I don't like that there are people who try to deceive me, but I guess that's part of life in general.

And no, I don't want to see some guy masturbate on cam for me. That I don't understand at all. Yes, I get porn and all that. But, when it comes to "live" action, I want it live and in the flesh. I don't want to see it on a computer screen. These LCD screens remain cold to the touch, you know. Being able to touch the other guy and be touched is where it's at.

As for cams "proving" someone's authenticity, I'm still sceptical. How do you know that someone isn't playing a video of a friend for you, or whatever?

I have no interest in men who do not want to meet me in person and must "cam" before meeting. Heck, take a chance and meet in person. You can always find out more about a person in the flesh, in a public place of course if you met on the 'net, than you can on a screen in your bedroom.

I like using the webcam for the same reason that I have a gold membership: I like to see who I'm talking to.

I am ashamed to admit that I've gone on cam more than once in order to prove what I looked like. I don't like 'cam sex' much (with a few exceptions), so I often disappoint people who get on cam with me -- especially younger guys who want to get off. I won't be cajoled into camming, but if a guy or girl asks me nicely then I'll probably do it if I'm in the mood.

I think that would be pretty obvious, as the video would not be in sync with the interaction... for example, if the viewer asked to see the viewee's face or butt or whatever. If the video is pre-recorded, it wouldn't be able to respond convincingly.

I totally understand where you're coming from too on the stalkers.

I'm not saying anyone that gets called to question needs to prove anything to me or anyone else; just that if they do, I think some judicious caming is the most reliable way to separate the men from the boys.

Agreed though, camming is the best proof. Just not sure how someone who is really a fake will agree to do so.

That's sort of the flipside of my point: anyone who who has anything they want to prove (or flaunt!) can easily put all questions to rest on cam. Anyone who's faking would never cam. I don't mean to make anyone defensive, though, so let's just stick to the first part! lol

LOL. You do realize that not everybody has a webcam, these days. I can think of PLENTY of people i know with extremely high end computer systems, sans a webcam.

I tend to focus on whats in someones heart. There are some great people on here. I think the heart is a much better indicator of who someone is. I have had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people here. This is a great place.

You make some good points. This is why i dont cam or IM e.t.c. It cuts down on a lot of the bad stuff.
