Being as this is an Internet website that has alot of daily communication as well as sexual pictures AND the ability to carry conversations in both PM Mode and chat, I wondered if anyone has had the pleasure of falling for another person on the internet?

I know it is quite possible to develop Friendships and such here, but how many of you have fallen for another on this site (or others?)

    How did it work out?
    Did you meet up?
    Did it last?
If there was distance, how did you cope?

Jeff--- I met my partner chatting online on AOL. He was in my area. We've been together eleven years. It definitely can work out--------Mark

I am in lust with someone I met in here. I usually PM each other.

He is young, and I am very much older; we live very far apart. It will not be able to last, I think. I will not let him know my feelings for him - he needs space to grow.

Ah, the distance... yes, I can see distance posing a problem.. but doesn't the LUSTING part really make it all worth while... even though there is a good chance that it could end unless you take the proper steps?

I've seen it work for others but it never did for me. I need to take them in...in the flesh. I need pheremones, the little quirks and maybe the one non-negotiable that can only come from an in-person meeting. I need to look them in the eye, feel the texture of their skin and so forth. I "knew" a gorgeous, very young Puerto Rican guy from Boston who wanted me for more than just a fuck. We spoke online for a couple years and then it didn't work out. I never met him in person. My best friend met his husband in AOL chat and they have been together for something like 5 years. It's possible but I don't think it is for me.

somewhat echoing what sorcerer said, i think that it's pretty tough to "fall" for someone online before you meet them in person. it's not possible for me.

80 to 90 percent of the time, it turns out different when you meet them in person from what you expected. i think the best way to meet is in a group situation. a bbs i belonged to years ago used to have social gatherings once a week. that way, you met alot of people, and many of them were a surprise. the ones that sounded cool were maybe not so much. the ones you didn't think much of turned out to be turnons. my longest relationship was born this way. never talked to the guy online. our profiles reveled zero in common. but we met during a group outing, and had instant electricity.

bottom line, you gotta take the car for a test drive and view it up close before deciding to buy. :biggrin1: and distance does not work for me. i ain't moving for anybody and don't expect them to either.

Yeah, i got sucked in. I believed all the lines, all the sweet shit and even talked about getting a hotel when he came down to Sydeny but he would always make excuses to get out of it. In the end i realised it was only a game of chicken to see how far id let him go with it.

There is a event i know both he & i wil be at next year, so god knows if i will ever actually get to meet him, even just as a friend

So now i stay clear of anyone who tries to be to 'friendly'

Well, no. I do, however, have a HUGE crush on a memeber here. It's almost pretty scary. ;)

LOL ... I doubt very, very seriously that the person I'm interested in also gets your engine going.

And no way, I totally saw them first.

My first boyfriend met his wife in a hockey chat on AOL 9 years ago. They expect a baby soon, and are almost finished renovating their home.

My best friend met her lunatic husband on the internet through a blogging community. They are ridiculously happy, going on 4 or 5 years now. Most of their friends met similarly.

One of my closest friends started out as a booty call. We met on a dating site, nearly three years ago. He is one of my favorite people in the whole world. We are not in love (just in lust) but we do love each other very much. Very few nights go by without a call from him to say good night. (Obviously he won't call me if certain women who wouldn't take it well are in his bed.)

*grabs tape and tapes himself into a quasi-circle to mark his turf*

And when your piss dries you won't have any turf left.

I met a wonderful guy online. We talked a lot (as in every night) and finally he came to see me and spent the WE.

We've been married for over 2 years now, and together for 3.

Now see, when I hear all these stories... I have to wonder if there is something to this whole Online Relationship thing.

I know a few people who have paired off from this site, and they seem to be doing well.

Regardless of the progression of the relationship,.... I think it is possible to have a few month/few years of fun before you both may drift apart due to distance.

Either way, I totally support the idea now that so many people have had such great experiences. Doesn't mean it will work everytime.. but it is still a nice idea.:biggrin1:

I shall announce my intentions to marry someone on this board by 2008.:biggrin1:

BTW, congrats to all those who had good times.

You are right, I have considered that. But I have decided to let it go - he has not even entered, let alone finish, university yet. I do not believe he knows - I have not told him. He should have a chance to grow. If he chooses to grow towards me, I will gladly accept it.

Furthermore, we live in different continents. Geographically, we are 16 hours apart. LA to NY is only 4 hours apart, geographically.
