Being friends with many amateur photographers we have had many gatherings to share photos and slideshows. We set up a GIANT screen in the backyard to project the photos on to. At one gathering a friend’s wife wanted to share photos from their recent vacation and connected her camera directly to the projector. She is not very tech savvy, and we saw ALL of her photos, (Including photos from one particularly fun evening in their hotel room.) We have not had another gathering since.

Not family pics per se, but. . .

My first wife and I had nude pics of ourselves. Full frontals, close-ups, singles, duos. We sometimes brought them out during sex. You might call them homegrown porn. We kept them in an envelope at the back of a drawer in the bedside table.

Soon after we got divorced, she remarried. She said he looked a lot like me. The only similarity I could see was that he had dark hair. I was sure I was a lot better looking!

One night I did emergency babysitting for them of our son. Just after he'd gone to bed the phone rang. The nearest phone was on their bedside table, so I took it there. After I told the caller they were out, some curious part of my brain wondered whether she still kept our pics in the drawer. I looked inside and, lo and behold! there was the old envelope -- but now noticeably thicker. I guiltily opened it and there were our pics, now supplemented with pics of her and her new husband. She had dated him before we got married, so I new he was hung, but was unprepared for the graphic evidence. He was easily twice my length and lots lots thicker. Some of his pics were intermingled with mine, implying there was some comparing going on. It was definitely hot thinking they used those pics in the same way she and I had and gotten off over them.

Stumbling across pictures of a family member of an erotic nature does not equal "hidden treasure" to me. I have zero issues with family members having happy active sex lives, but I do not want to see it. I did once, by accident and it was the complete opposite of a treasure.

No, and I really wouldn't want to find anything like that.

While I did some snooping through my parents and siblings stuff as a kid, I recognize now that its a really shameful act. As much as I would feel embarrassed or whatever about seeing family member photographed doing whatever, I would feel more shame for having gone through their personal items where something like that could be found.

I know that any thing like that that I have, pictures, toys, etc. are either going to be deleted automatically if I don't take manual action to stop it within a certain time frame, or physical things will be disposed of by someone who is trusted and has instructions to locate a specific box and destroy it without looking inside. I would not want my family to find compromising things if something happened to me and they had to clean out my home. I can't imagine the shame I would feel if I were paralyzed, for example, and my parents had to dispose of my fleshlight.

I had a favorite gay uncle who passed away in December and he left me his home and contents. I have discovered a lot of things that I did not know he had and this includes some interesting photos of him taken by a professional photographer. He definitely would be an LPSG card carrying member!
More interestingly, I found a wonderful collection of Steve Walker prints and one original framed item that I wil fondly incorporate into my home. I always enjoyed Steve Walker art and my uncle used to send me cards with pictures of Steve’s prints while I was in grad school and away from home,

Oh gosh, this thread brought back repressed memories! No, not dirty but sexy pictures. I did a photoshoot for myself. Seriously.

After my divorce I had a very horrible body image problem. My close friends tried to change my mind, but they were friends, and I figured they were saying that to be kind.

When I moved to Dallas I was 25, and I became friends with a photographer. I shared with her my self doubt one evening, and she said she knew just the thing to help. She worked part time at Glamour Shots in the mall, and told me about how she shot people to show their best light. Made arrangements with her to meet at her apartment with some fun outfits and sexy stuff and we did an hour and a half of photos.

When I saw them I was blown away. She was so good! I cried and cried. I wanted to give her all my money LOL! She refused. Instead I spent all my money taking her to Texas de Brazil!

She gave me negatives and everything. This was just for me.

Flash forward years later my daughter stumbles upon the photos. Like I said, nothing even R-rated, but sexy. She told me what she found, and I thought she would be horrified. Instead she said "Mom you used to look good!" Gee thanks.

She coined a phrase then that we've used so often as a joke afterwards, "So much boob!"

I haven't seen those pictures in almost 20 years. I would not have an idea where they would be. My husband has only seen a head shot from that shoot. He has it framed in his studio.

Still pisses me off whenever someone visits and asks him "Who's that?"

Now you've got me pondering the unfortunate relative who ends up with my laptop if I fall victim to a horrific accident.

I should probably move a few folders to a thumb drive with standing, "burn this if anything happens to me" instructions like Intact alluded to.
