Does anyone know if lower abdominal work (combined with losing fat, of course) will expose more of the penis? About 10 years ago I lost 75 pounds...went from 260 to 185. I wish I could say I gained inches, but at least it didn't do as much of a disappearing act. What I didn't do, though, was any kind of strength training. So basically I was just weak and flabby. Since then I've gained it all back, but am set to get healthy again for heart reasons. I was just wondering if anyone had insight into this...if I had done some lower abdominal work once I'd lost all that weight...would more of my penis have been exposed? Thanks for any and all insight and advice!

Ab work builds abs. Builds as in... grows. Grows... as in gets bigger lol Kinda the opposite of what you're looking for. It may burn some of the subcutaneous fat in that area but to be visibly noticeable is pretty unlikely. Fat loss is pretty much the only thing that's going to get rid of the "fat pad" and sadly, if you're genetically predisposed to it or if you have any loose skin there, it's not going anywhere without surgery.

Well I was thinking not so much about doing the ab work to get rid of the fat (I know I just need to work that off) but rather to maybe tighten things up a bit once the fat is gone. More about firmness than about muscle. Is it possible to "tighten" up after losing a bunch of weight?

You can fill in loose skin with muscle. You can draw your skin closer to your muscle by losing fat. How much you "tighten" is really just a matter of your skin's elasticity. That's a matter of genetics and age, mostly. It depends on how loose the skin is and how much you expect to tighten it. There are things you can do to "treat" loose skin but most of the results are negligible if you have very much tightening to do. If it's fairly minimal, I would look into strivectin creams, colloidal copper, collagen supplements and creams... Human growth hormone is also good for tightening skin but it's not legal unless you go to "youth clinics" and the like... It's fraking expensive. At that rate you may as well just get surgery.

The fat pad just above the groin is a common thing in men in both aging and after weight loss. The cost of having this dealt with surgically is not all that bad compared to some procedures. Some medical insurance plans will actually cover this one. It is worth investigating. You get the benefit after weight loss of being healthier and looking great and the down side is that fat pad in the groin sticks around.

It is possible to take up a great deal of the "slack" in weight training, but, it will not get all of it and you are going to have to had quite a few inches to your chest to make up for what the belly which was a great deal closer left behind.

Ab exercise alone won't touch this one. I have the same problem and I have inquired.

6 pack abs are a result of low body fat and has nearly nothing to do with how strong your abdominal muscles are, just keep that in mind... I know a lot of guys (myself included) that don't do any ab work and maintain a 6-pack yr. round via diet and exercise. also keep in mind that there no such thing as "turning fat into muscle," muscle
tissue is muscle tissue, fat tissue is fat tissue. In order to achieve the recomposition "fat into muscle" effect, you basically have lose fat, gain muscle. It's not all that hard if you know what you are doing.

Congrats on losing all that weight!

if you'd like a diet, from either me or scotty (former competitive bodybuilder, as low as 3.21% BF) just lemme know.. free of course!

Google lean gains, thank me later ;).

Btw, great job Good Looking Loser!

I've done a high fat/ moderate protein/ low carb diet in the past, and I lost 13 lbs in one week, about 6 weeks into the diet! I knew then my body had reset itself in regards to leptin levels. No exercise except for one very hard whole body workout a week, and a daily 2-3 mile stroll. Alas I went with a friend to a couple cross fit workouts and ended up reinjuring my shoulder and I fell off the wagon......
