Favorite Board games

Chess, chess, and more chess, and the world is saved!

(avoid the others, especially the world domination games, as I literally start to salivate, and otherwise get carried away)

I prefer cards; bridge or poker, but board games, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly,

Depends on who I'm playing with, but:

Strictly "board" games:

  • Monopoly
  • Clue
  • Risk
Card games:

  • Taboo
  • Pictionary
  • Set
  • Uno
Dice games:

  • Pass the Pigs

Chess, Checkers, Scrabble, Othello, Whatzit?, Balderdash, Connect Four (if that counts).

Played a game of Scattergories once and we were required to list all the things you'd find in a park starting with the letter G. Out of eight of us I was the only one to think of grass.

D'oh!

*Edit.

If D&D type games count then I'll add ShadowRun.

Peter do tell about these three. they sound fascinating. I remember when I was a child I loved a game called Exploration.

Okey, I copied som etext becaus it's hard to explain.

Junglespeed:

In Jungle Speed, you must rely on your keen sense of observation and quick reflexes. It requires a steady hand -- which can be hard to maintain during the many fits of maniacal laughter! The wooden Totem sits in the middle of the table, waiting for the player with the fastest reflexes to snatch it up and win the game.
Each player is dealt a hand of cards. In order to win you must be the first player to get rid of all of your cards. Each turn, all of the players reveal one of their cards. If two cards are identical, those players must make a grab for the Totem. The faster player then gives their cards to their unfortunate adversary.
To add to the difficulty, certain cards are almost identical, which can trick a hapless player into grabbing the Totem by mistake -- a grave error. Other cards force all players to make a grab at once, change the method of play, or otherwise add to the difficulty.

Cluedo:

The game is set in a mansion, with the board divided into different rooms. The players each represent a character who is a guest staying at this house, whose owner, Dr. Black (Mr. Boddy in the North American version), has been found murdered. Players attempt to solve the murder. The solution to the murder requires the three components of Suspect, Weapon, and Room.

Colonists of Catan: all is explained here, a complictaed but fun game with a lot of extensions: Cities and Knights of Catan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

During the holidays my family can get pretty vicious while playing games--mainly spades (a card game) and monopoly--always good times, though!

Risk, that's what I'm talking about! The deceptively benign primer for megalomaniacs everywhere. :evilgrin02:

I love, love, love chess!
Play it every chance that I can, even on Facebook.

Hahaaha, me too! :mischievous:

Monopoly. I was a Mono addict when I was younger, but I haven't found anyone to play with in years.

Scruples and Trivial Pursuit are seconds.

Pictionary...if that's a board game, I am a fairly good drawer...so I enjoy that.
